Can anyone help/advise on "order" of doing stuff

OK I couldn't find this sticky "all inclusive reference thread" that's been mentioned.

I've just bought the full version of FOF2004, v 5.1 not sure which "letter". Do I need to patch/upgrade?
What addons/files do I need, particularly for real player names/team names etc
what things do I need to do NOW before I start messing about with the game to avoid having to go back and start over later
can you reset the game at any time and "start over" if required?

sorry, bomber, not everyone here is a dick to noobs.

if you just bought the game, you should be on the current version (5.1d) - in the game, click on the last icon for the "about" screen, and your version number will be on the lower right.

there are a ton of addon files and useful info in the stickied thread mentioned. might be a good idea to check out the FOFC codex (http://fof.sportplanet.gamespy.com//forums/showthread.php?t=38338) for strategies and other tips. other than that, this is the kind of game you have to sort of play around with to get a good feel for.
