Well, after getting everything setup, there's one problem. My DVD player and PS2 will not play through the receiver. The sound and the video will come across but they will scroll across the TV screen and the colors will not be correct. By changing the video component cables to the TV instead of the receiver, I have no problems. It's a nuisance to switch both the TV and the receiver and I can certainly live with it but I wonder if anyone knows what might be going on here.

It may be a problem with the receiver, its not powerful enough to handle the video and sound. I know my parents receiver used to drop a frame or two of video and sound now and again.

the only thing i can think of, and its doubtful, was that you were running a composite cable into a component input or something?
my home theater setup has no video running through the receiver. it is a bit more of a pain, but the receiver cant handle HD, so i just decided to use it for audio only.

dola
my other guess was you hadnt switched the ps2 and dvd player over to "component" out instead of composite. but now that i see you say it works fine when bypassing the receiver would make me a guess its a problem with the receiver itself.
tv works fine running through the receiver though?

Don't have TV running through receiver. Had the following connections:
DVD -- Component Video to Receiver, digital coax sound to receiver
PS2 -- Component Video to Receiver, optical sound to receiver
HDTV Box -- HDMI Video to TV, Optical Audio to receiver
All of the sound connections worked, as did the HDTV box. DVD and PS2 image showed up but were scrolling side to side and were not showing up correctly color wise.
Now I have:
DVD -- Component to TV, digital coax audio to receiver
PS2 -- Component to TV, optical audio to receiver
HDTV -- HDMI to TV, optical audio to receiver
Everything works here....just have to switch the TV input and the sound input.
It's baffling to me right now as I had it setup this same basic way before HD but with composite cords and it worked fine. Cables aren't the problem though as evidence by it working normally. It has to be something with the receiver but I'm not getting what it could be.

double check every option in the receiver menu about outputting video. maybe it thinks its outputting composite or something. no idea.
good luck man

Just reprogrammed all of my inputs and somehow it seems to have done the trick. Lord willing, I'm set to go.
