Below is a copy of the email I sent them:

To whom it may concern,

Your phone number, 772-4422, is consistently busy and I have neither the time nor the inclination to waste any more of my life waiting for your inappropriately titled "customer service". Your company made an appointment with us today from 1 to 5 PM for a digital phone installation and called our cell phone to confirm that appointment yesterday, July 30th. No one has called to reschedule or cancel. This is the second week in a row that you have wasted our time by not calling to reschedule or cancel. Last Monday, July 24th, my wife called your office and spoke to "Rebecca" who told us that you had rescheduled; no one had called our cell phone to inform us. Your "On-Time Guarantee" located at:

http://www.timewarnercable.com/ElPaso/Customer/

is false and misleading. You have been neither on-time nor communicative in your lateness. I currently make approximately $43.46 an hour. For my wasted time of two afternoons, you owe me $347.68. You may credit that towards my bill. I expect to receive a reply to this message within 24 hours...or perhaps that is asking a little too much from a company that is as inept as yours. I have also courtesy copied the El Paso Better Business Bureau.

Sincerely,
XXXXXXXXXXXXX

I tried a similar tactic with ntl over here when they were supposed to collect a no-longer needed cable set-top box and modem: they had actually overcharged me on the account (only by about £20) but as they failed to collect them twice, and never responded to e-mail's I ended up selling the items for the money they owed me.

Pile of shite company - never deal with them.

Your e-mail is more succinct than the opus I sent ntl, and is far more effective for it. Good work fella.

ntl are a pile of shite company - never deal with them again. Sounds like I can add Time Warner to the list!

I would expect you to hear nothing back from Time Warner or the BBB

I had a similar experience with Comcast. I hate them. Comcast is the worst run and poorly managed company (in my opinion based off of Customer Service, not financials) I have ever dealt with. I have yet to get someone who speaks english on the phone, and like Time Warner did for you, Comcast stood me up 3 times for appointments.

I felt used.

I'll also be interested to see what response (if any) you get from TW & BBB.

My wife and I have dealt with Time Warner in Ohio so much it's sick. Unfortunately, it's not worth the switch to satelitte to pay $300 for an HD-DVR box. We hope prices on these come down. They are hands down the worst company to deal with.

We went the wasted afternoon route with Best Buy after three failed deliveries. While we won't make any more major purchases from them, they did send us two $100 gift cards to compensate. Good luck getting that from Time Warner.

Who exactly did yous end this to? If you sent it to a generic tech support e-mail, I doubt you'll get much.. I've had the most success by investigating and finding contact info as far up into the company as you can.

I sent it to:

[email protected]
and
[email protected] (BBB, which ironically has a TWC email address)

The guy came at 5:11 PM and installed it. He didn't speak much English (or rather, I didn't speak much Spanish).

In almost any situation like this, I'd probably just nod knowingly & feel a certain amount of empathy for you ... and then I happened to actually notice & think about your indicated location: "Home of the UTEP Miners".

Now, unless they've moved the school, that means you're in El Paso, Texas (or at least close enough to it to count).

Considering that 69% of El Paso residents speak Spanish at home (http://www.elpasotexas.gov/planning/_documents/chart_home_language_city_2000.pdf) instead of English, I'm not sure that your experience today comes as quite a much of a shock as it would in other locations.

Doesn't make it any less aggravating of course, nor make me less empathetic, but I'd be surprised if this isn't something that you run into a lot more than the average U.S. resident.

You didn't fully understand the first time when I said you live in the Shithole of the West. You get crappy service.

No answer from them so far. Will update when I get back to El Paso.
