Well.....stress hit tenfold here in the house this week.

Our current landlord we were under lease option with pulled the option out from under us. We were going to enact it this month, and then they raised the rent on us $100.

If you have read some of my other threads about our home, we have zero backyard here, what I mean by that is it is large, but no grass, a lot of dirt and puncture vines.

The landlord cited market value increase....for that to happen, there has to be reason for it....

Well, we just found a home, within our price range in a new growth area. The kicker.....my backyard is basically the 13th hole of a golf course..soon to be a PGA golf course, as my understanding is, they will have a tourney there this year or next on the course.

My property value should increase every year, this has me excited.....We meet tomorrow to sign the paperwork on the home....With move in happening hopefully this week or next....

I will post pictures once it is finalized and officially ours!

BTW...this will be our first home to own.....so there is something special there.

It's funny how life does that sometimes eh? You lose something, but gain something even better in return.

Gratz, that's awesome MacroGuru!

I checked woot, they only had joysticks for sale today, not a new home.

Congrats, sounds like great timing.

Congrats sir to you and your family. A backyard is a beautiful thing when you got some little rugrats around.

That's awesome news, especially the golf course, that would be awesome....so long as all my neighbors weren't 75 years old and cranky. :)

Sooooo....abruptly my little world crashes.....

I knew I shouldn't have posted this...We went in to finalize the papers, and the seller had backed out on us...

We were pretty distraught, then the admin assistant of the realtors office called us, and let us know that someone came in over the top of us to the tune of $50,000 over asking....She felt horrible it happened, but had to let us know because she didn't feel we were treated right. No one told us anything other than the seller backed out.

Not sure I understand what's meant here. You were going to enact the option, but doing so would have cost you an extra $100/month?

Sorry, they pulled the option out...and then just said, we aren't selling and if you want to stay the rent is $100 more

Was the option offered but never legally codified, or was it part of the rental agreement you signed when you entered the house?

If it was part of the agreement, then unless the agreement gave them the right to revoke the option, I can't imagine they would have much of a leg to stand on, legally. It would seem to be breach of contract unless the contract gave them the right to do that.

It's written into the contract most lease options have that because the fact home value can increase in the amount of time the lease option is set.

The option was written in? The right of revocation was written in? Both?

Alright....

I waited until I finalized the papers tonight...

I am now officially a home owner..just finalized everything tonight, looks like when I get back from my 4 week trip to Bentonville, AR I will be coming home to a new house.

Nice little planned community, 1675 Sq ft, 3 bd/2.5 bath with 800 sq ft unfinshed in the basement, which has insulation and everything, just need to slap the sheet rock up.

I am excited now!

Based on the title, I though you bought your house on woot.com. Now *that* is a bargain!

Seriously, though, congratulations you homo(wner)!
