Very interesting article.

I read this whole thing, maybe if we had MORE Billy Graham's.. the.. "Don't judge, that's god's duty", the "love the sinner, hate the sin" type, and less of what we DO have around here, religion wouldn't be such a hot button issue.

You don't get much better of a role model for what Christianity is all about than Billy Graham. There are very few of the other famous religious "Leaders" that can lay claim to that particular mantle. As I type this, I think the religious community has that in common with the black community. Not intended as a thread jack, but I think Oral Roberts and Pat Robertson have quite a bit in common with Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson.

I grew up in western North Carolina, and my grandfather was Billy Graham's personal physician for many years. I remember visiting his home in Montreat a couple of times when I was young, and the one thing that still stands out in my mind is how modest his home was. It wasn't extravagant by any means, and he definitely didn't have a lot of interest in material possessions.

I always gotta have a laugh when the TV preachers, wearing their $5000 suits, are screaming at me to donate to their cause.

I remember attending the Billy Graham Crusade in 1976 at the Kingdome in Seattle. I believe it was the very first event held at the new dome.

Anyway, the event was a truly remarkable spectacle for an 11-year-old.
