I might kick myself doing this only based on one good pre-season game, but I'll keep QB Alex Smith, SF. This is also partially an indictment of my other QB's.

HB is easier. I'll keep Ronnie Brown, Mia.

WR is a tougher choice, but I'll keep Derrick Mason, Bal counting on him and McNair to re-ignite the magic they had in Tennessee.

Wow. No idea why this team was left for dead. Sure, it's not got that killer running back but it's stacked at WR with three awesome ones and a good QB in Brady. Hm... I have some decisions to make.

Exact same thing as last year...Two hours per pick with the draft clock running from 10 AM - 12 PM (EST). I'll see if there is anything else I'm missing later.

Yeah. It is ridiculous that they have so many bad QB's rated higher than some very good HB's and WR's.

The draft doesn't start for another 3+ hours.... but I went ahead and made my pick. I debated between Portis, Bush, Williams and even Eli Manning. The injury to Portis, Bush being a rookie and Eli being a QB left me with Cadillac Williams as the first pick.

I'm not sure why the clock is doing that... I will fire an e-mail over to Sportsline. It is supposed to be 120 minutes per pick.

Once I get access to the draft room, I can undo the picks. My only fear is that the draft will be over before we get access. Once everybody misses a pick, it will put us all on autopick and probably sim the rest of the draft. When I checked this morning, HB was up in the sixth round. I guess that would be our restart point.

August 13th - Draft Starts with no time limit for picks

August 20th - Draft continues with normal draft rules... Two hours per pick with the clock active from 10:00 AM (EST) until 12:00 AM (EST). You are encouraged to setup a draft list as the Sportsline "robot" tends to favor QB's.

Obviously the draft needs to be finished before September 6th. We should finish well before that. Right?

EDIT 2: In the below rules on dropping players, don't listen to it. You keep 1 QB, 1 RB, and 1 WR/TE, and that's it.

I think the point is to start the draft off slowly with the initial week and then ramp up as we get closer to our deadline. I would personally be fine with leaving the unlimited time, but if there's a desire to have at least some time limit betweem picks my preference would be to bump up SI's proposed 6 hrs to 12hrs.

I took this from the initial thread in the archives. I believe it is accurate except a few minor things (the scoring for kickers goes 3 pt -- 1-39yd, 4 pt --- 40-49yr, 5 pt --- 50+yd and scoring for defenses I think it's 2 pts per int / fumble recovery), but won't be sure until the Sportsline site is up and running again.

Lineups must be submitted by one hour before the first game of the week.

Starting total of 8 players.
Bench total of 8 players.
16 total players + 2 IR slots.

IR Rule
Each team is allowed to place two players on the IR. If this player is ‘out for the season’, ‘PUP’, or designated ‘Retired’ by the NFL then, if the date is after the 1st game and prior to the final Add/Drop date for the year, the team may add an additional player to their roster. Upon drop date the following year (for draft selection positioning) this team MUST drop any additional players to gain a round in the draft (basically, a person MUST drop one player for each on the DL, and then proceed to drop their 1-8 additional players to earn draft rounds), or drop the players on the IR.

Trade Rule
A trade may be proposed by two or more teams during the time from of after the teams drop date, until the Saturday prior to Thanksgiving. The trade is placed before the league for denial. The time frame for league review is: Prior to the draft – Two Weeks or time of the 1st draft selection (whichever is 1st); after draft – 2 Days (note: no trade can be preformed DURING the draft). If 5 or more teams veto the trade, the trade proposal is cancelled. Any other trade proposal cannot be identical to a vetoed trade unless 1 full week has passed since its initial proposal.

Draft positions held by the team are valid ‘players’ for trade, but only for time after the teams drop date AND prior to the Draft for that year.

Any trades made after the Saturday before Thanksgiving AND prior to the teams drop date the next year are not ‘valid’ (they are gentlemen’s agreements) – after each team has submitted their drop list, All team owners must inform and confirm with the commissioner of their trade proposal.

Trade approval is handled: Prior to draft (by e-mail or in person); after draft (by the web site).

Free Agent Pick Ups
Teams are allowed to add free agent pick ups from after the draft until an hour before the 1st game of the last week of the fantasy regular season (Week 14). A team’s roster may never exceed 16 (exception, the team has a player on IR, at this point their roster may not exceed 18).

Our software does not allow free agent pick-ups after the 1st game of the week has started, through Tuesday. Players requested after the Monday Night game and prior to Wednesday will go through the web defined ‘Waiver’ process.

Waivers: players requested are distributed by waiver ranking defined by team power ranking (schedule/point total), as defined by the website.

Dropping Players
At a determined date prior to the season starting and prior to the draft, each team has the option to drop up to (8) players, allowing them to draft players during that year’s draft. Each player retained on the team greater than (8) forfeits that teams draft selection each round. [NOTE: teams with a DL player MUST drop 1 player, and it does not count towards the 8 maximum to drop] – A team dropping players after this determined drop time will not increase the draft rounds for that team. All players marked as dropped at this time will be eligible to be drafted. The draft positions determined after the drop are considered ‘players’, and can be traded as such.

Playoffs
There are 3 brackets of Playoffs that will be used to determine Draft order selection for the next year:

Superbowl: Top team from each division (determined by record/head to head/division record/point total) and (1) Wild Card team determined by Total points (then head to head/record). – None of these teams are eligible for the other brackets.
The Team with the best record (head to head/point total) will play the Wild Card team in the 1st round. The winners of the 1st round play for the Iberbowl; the losers play for the 9th pick order of the draft, the loser of that game gets the 10th pick order. The loser of the Iberbowl gets the 11th pick order, while the IberBowl champion gets the championship and the 12th pick order of the next year’s draft.

RookieBowl: Bottom team from each division (determined by record/head to head/ division record/point total) and (1) Kill Card team determined by Total points (then head to head/record). – The team with the worst record (head to head/point total) will play the Kill Card team in the 1st round. The Winners of the 1st round will play each other in the 2nd round to determine the winner of the RookieBowl– the Winner will have the 1st draft pick order, while the loser will receive the 2nd draft pick order. The Losers in the 1st round will play each other in the 2nd round, the winner will get the 3rd draft pick order, while the loser will get the 4th draft pick order for next years draft.

PrideBowl: The Final 4 teams will play for the PrideBowl championship (the 5th draft pick order). The teams will be matched up by having the team with the best record (head to head/point total) play the team with the worst record. The Winners of the 1st round will play each other in the 2nd round to determine the winner of the PrideBowl– the Winner will have the 5th draft pick order, while the loser will receive the 6th draft pick order. The Losers in the 1st round will play each other in the 2nd round, the winner will get the 7th draft pick order, while the loser will get the 8th draft pick order for next years draft.

Draft
The Draft Order is determined by the Playoffs for the previous year – As of the drop date the number of Players still on the teams Roster determines the rounds drafted in. Each player above 8 on the team’s roster determines the Team draft in one later round: A team with 8 players starts drafting in the 1st round, 9:2nd, 10:3rd, 11:4th, 12:5th, 13:6th, 14:7th, 15:8th, 16: not at all. (Specific draft positions may have been traded after the drop date and prior to the draft date.) The Draft Order is 1-14 bypassing any team that had forfeited their draft selection, or failed to attend the draft at the specified time. This 1-14 order will continue though 8 rounds. A team may choose to select free agents instead of drafting at their specific time, but must not do so until after ALL drafted players have been assigned to their team.

Replacing a Team
Should a team owner decide to leave the league, it is then the responsibility of the leaving team to find a replacement owner. The replacement owner will then be responsible for team management as was the team owner previously. If a team has not confirmed with the commissioner prior to 1 week before the drop date that they are continuing to participate, the commissioner may replace that team owner following the same guidelines. It is the Team Owner’s responsibility to keep a current means of communication available to the commissioner.
A no confidence vote will be discussed when the league votes on the rules.

Rule Changes
Once Each Year, rule changes may be proposed and voted on by the entire league. The meeting will be held at least 2 weeks prior to the draft date. Rule proposals are currently not limited, but 8 teams are required to pass any rule change or implementation (the commissioner is allowed to propose and vote). Absentee and proxy voting is valid, but no team owner can vote for any other team owner. Scoring rules will be implemented into the current years system, but process rules dealing with Dropping and Drafting will take effect the following year. (Any rule can be changed at any time on a Unanimous Vote!!!)

Dates of Events
The Date of Events are now determined by the start date of the Season. The Draft Date will be denoted as the Saturday 2 weeks prior to the 1st regular season game of the year at the latest. The Drop date will be the Friday one week prior to the Draft Date. The Draft date will be available to adjust one week earlier, or one week later – depending on the availability of the team owners --- The Drop date will adjust accordingly.

Also, I'll throw this out there just as a thought tho it's not quite "traditional" fantasy football but it's a format I've really liked playing the last few years. I always like playing in a 2 QB league as well as one where WR points are stepped up with relation to RBs. That way it's not just a mad scramble for RBs in the first couple of rounds. Being a keeper league, this works a little different, but there's still going to be 8 of the first 10 or 10 of the first 12 picks going to RBs. It's kindof a pointless exercise of "who can draft the crappiest looking running back on the board and get lucky that they have a good year".

There's always the argument that it's not realistic, but I don't see teams lining up 2 stud running backs in the backfield- it's not like someone has LT and Larry Johnson next to each other splitting carries so until fantasy football teams switch to RB/FB (thus making mid 90s Mike Alstott one of the best players in the history of fantasy football), it's not like we're talking realism here anyways.

But, basically, what it does is makes QBs as valuable as RBs, as well they should be. And it gives some added value to WRs who are maddeningly inconsistent as they can have great performances one week followed by 30 yards the next whereas RBs are much more steady- they're almost always going to get their yards, maybe 80 and no TDs on a bad day vs 150 and 3 TDs on a good. But there are rarely those 20 yard, no TD games that even good WRs are prone to. So, there's some reward to taking a good WR as they can help turn a game for the week much like a good RB performance can.

It's just something to throw out there.

Should we make any rule/scoring changes? I think QBs are already valued as high as they should be. I didn't realize we use 6 points for a thrown TD. That puts a lot of value on a QB.

Not wanting to be a new guy rocking the boat...but that did catch my eye as well. Looks to me like QBs are valued pretty high already...a lot higher than we value them in my other keeper league...4pts per TD and 1pt for 33 passing yards.

If anyone wants to draw up a new scoring system.... feel free. It would have to pass with 7 of the 12 owners and it'd have to be completed before the 8th. Having said that, I'm fine with the system in place.
