Ok...My 3 year ESPN keeper league team has been troublesome, simply because

a: I had to rely on the autodraft (Thanks for drafting Barry Bonds in round 3)
b: My terrible inability to leave the team alone in tinkering, due to the draft (see a:)

I managed to make three trades to help for the future, two of which I think I came out a clear winner, and one which is probably me in panic mode.

1) Andy Sheets traded for D. Turnbow - Clear winner at the time, Sheets pitched well and then promptly got hurt again for most of the season, Turnbow was stable while in my bullpen along with Tom Gordon.

2) Beltran, Kenny Rogers, Gred Maddux for Brett Myers, Fernando Rodney and Alex Rios - I consider this my iffy trade as Beltran has rocked, but I needed a reliable starter (prior to him beating his wife), a potential closer (prior to Todd Jones gaining stability) and a young OF in Rios (who promptly got a bacterial infection).

3) Andruw Jones, D. Turnbow and Tom Gordon for Justin Morneau, Ryan Zimmeran, Jhonny Peralta, and Chris Young - a grand bullmoose winner I think, Turnow was just starting to quiver, Gordon was still stable but now has shoulder problems and A. Jones while a great OFer, would'nt be on my keeper list...you look at what I got and tell me it wasn't a bad move.

But it leads to my problems...I get to keep five and I'm struggling to get out of the basement...I believe in the ESPN league, fifth place overall gets the 1st pick...so I'm battling with two other teams in my division neck and neck, the 3rd place team is attainable...the top two teams are out of reach methinks...the other division has two teams which are within my win loss standings...so I'm not sure yet where I'll be in picking order.

But I've got a lot of youth and only five picks...

oh and this is a 5x5 head to head league, two divisions, 10 teams (Wins, ERA, WHIP, K, Sv and Avg, HRs, RBIs, Runs, Steals)

Pitchers on the list:

Aaron Harang - 28 years old
12 Wins
154 Ks
3.66 ERA
1.32 WHIP

As close to an ace as I had before Myers, reliable and on a wild card team, Yankee pedigree I think (to some that matters), I don't rank pitchers higher than position players, chances are all my pitchers may go in the pool.

Chris Young - 28 years old
9 Wins
118 Ks
3.84 ERA
1.22 WHIP

A lock for a while being that he pitches in a pitchers' park, and San Diego is a decent team. Still he's winding down lately and may have been good the for the stretch run and now to move on unless he's somewhere in the draft.

Brett Myers and Cole Hamels
8 Wins 5 Wins
125 Ks 96Ks
4.12 ERA 4.50 ERA
1.34 WHIP 1.26 WHIP
Age 25 Age 22

These Phillies are a decent duo, though Myers has marred his reputation with the domestic disturbance and Cole is considered fragile by most pitcher standards, both have high ceilings. Of the two Cole is more of a keeper, I've heard he's changed his diet and a new exercise program to help durability and at 22 he's helping mentor another potential starter for the Phils, Scott Mathieson, who is a gem of a prospect himself...his shutting down of the Mets last night, beam to me ace status in a few seasons...

So if I had to pick,

1. Cole Hamels
2. A. Harang
3. B. Myers
4. C. Young

Other pitchers on my team:

Ricky Nolasco - beats weak teams, but on a weak team (Marlins)
Derek Lowe - good, but keeper?
Jason Jennings - the Colorado curse seems abated, but not a guy to keep into the season
Tim Hudson - shaky at best
Matt Cain - 21, fireballer but inconsistent
Pat Neshek - Twins version of Zumaya
Mike Maroth - no, a pitcher on a very good team, but not a keeper and on IR to boot

---------------
Position Players

I had a major strength in outfielers and I still do, but keepers is what I want and I got a few

Mark Teixeira - a definite at start of season, but this year is a near bust, bringing it on at the end but is it enough to keep...I would think so

Ryan Zimmerman - a 3b in a hitters park, but a bad team (Nationals). I need a hot corner and he's the best in the bunch when you think about it in the redraft next season and I don't recall anyone coming up that would be decent enough to replace.

B.J. Upton - yeah I got him, leadoff hitter right now, will evaluate before the Feb. cutoff for keepers, has the abilities on offense, defense is shaky enough to warrant benchings...steals, and average and maybe HRs, oh my. For being such a bad team, Tampa has some insane fantasy superstars

Carlos Lee - A 30 year old, and who knows where he'll play next season, still he's a great fantasy player good for average, homeruns, steals and RBIs...

Alexis Rios - Young and on a good team, a newer version of Lee? Or is his good season not enough to warrant holding on to him?

Brandon Phillips - Grabbed him early and rode him...nowhere near as good as say Chase Utley (who I almost had in a trade but was vetoed along with Ryan Howard!) but a surprise, will there be a sophomore jinx...he's good for RBIs and steals

Justin Morneau - This guy is a definite keeper, a solid hitter consistently cranking out RBIs and decent average and first 30 hr hitter for the Twins in a while.

Carlos Quentin - A guy forcing out Shawn Green and bashing in homeruns and RBIs in limited At Bats, just wait and see if he'll continue to be a force.

---
others on the team
Richie Sexson - no, a well of despair in average and injury issues
Randy Winn - nope
Barry Bonds - nope
Jhonny Peralta - I think it's worth the risk putting him back into the pool for the draft next season, there are better chances to take on, but serviceable for my team now (I think Angel Berroa is the best SS in the free agent market in my league)
Juan Rivera - Came out of nowhere to supplant Garrett Anderson of the Angels, but not enough that I'd keep him at the expense of other talent.
Tad Iguchi - Great 2b, good team, but I can risk it I think.
Josh Willingham - Will lose the catcher eligibilty and he's a small fish in the fantasy slot at OF to warrant holding over.

That's all I got:

1. Justin Morneau
2. Carlos Lee
3. Alexis Rios
4. Mark Teixeira
5. Ryan Zimmerman

Anyone please help...thanks

Incidently, a number of teams are interested in Carlos Lee and the 18th is the trade deadline...one guy has Utley, Howard, Carlos Crawford and Bonderman and Arizona's ace whose name escapes me...he's still interested in Carlos Lee and Teixera, and idea what I could ask for those guys.
