Have any of you guys played Razz before? Pokerstars just added Razz, HOSE, and HORSE ring games. The only levels they offer right now are $1/$2 which are just a bit high for my current bankroll but I decided to take a shot at RAZZ for fun. My only experience was a couple play money SNG's on the test server.
I sat down with $40 and quickly went down to $19 after losing two pots with 7-low (one to a 6-low and one to a wheel). Then suddenly I went on a rush and now sit with $83. It's not with any great cards either. My biggest pot was $18 with an 8-low. I also won two big pots with a 10-low. Some things I've figured out:
1) Your board is extremely important, even more so than in other stud games. You could have Kings underneath, but if your board reads A25, then most people will fold to your bets.
2) You really want to draw to no worse than a 7-low (preferably 6) in normal situations. However, you can draw to worse depending on your opponents board.
3) The players are really dumb. I would play the game now while most people don't understand it. Here's an example: I bring-in with a King. It's folded around to a guy showing an Ace. With 4 people behind him showing a Jack, a 5, a Queen, and my King he FOLDS. The Jack folds, and THEN THE 5 FOLDS. Wow. The Queen folds too and I take the pot with a King. Thanks guys.
BTW, in the time that it took to write this post, I have run my stack up to $102. Good times.
