Is there a FOFC network game? If not, seems like something that would be fun if we could get it going.

Didn't you volunteer to host a while back, CW?

As long as the time commitment isn't too intense, I think it would be cool.

I believe I did. And I'd consider hosting again if 1) it works on my box (pretty good machine) and 2) we get enough serious people to play.

So if we did this, whaddya wanna do? MLS is prolly the best bet, since it would kind of suck to be promoted/relegated out of the league.

Why not Conference North or South? Then we have nowhere to go but up. And if new members join, we'll have a spot for them.

No way, that's the whole point!

I'd say pick a medium rung division in an established European league. League 1 in England or something along those lines.

I also concur with the suggestion of Sunday afternoon as a good playing time, mabe something along the lines of 2-4 hours each week? That would get us through around one month per session I'd imagine. Leave an extra session or two for the intense summer break and that would be about 3 months to one season.

Anyway. I wanted to do this last time, I still wanna do it. So I suppose I'll try and spearhead this.

The settings I propose...

- English Conference National
- Fictional Players
- Fog of War On
- Large DB (XL just takes too bloody long)

I'll load all players from the USA, and a few other European nations into the DB as well.

- Clubs...either we do a quick "draft" after an initial signup, first come first serve, or it's a random draw.

Passacaglia

Kindly post a "Sign My Punk Ass Up" note if you are in. While it's hardly binding yet, I'd rather keep people backing out to a minimum.

you probably had it, it's usually set to be on by default. I think it might also be called "attribute masking" or something like that.

As for an online game, I find it a very interesting idea, but I just can't commit any frozen period of time to playing. I get my playing time whenever I can, so instead of signing up and letting my assistant run things for most of the time, I'd rather not sign up for anything. Good luck with it!

If i can use WWSM, I will fit it into my busy schedule. A ton of it depends on when the games are actually played though, i work 8pm-8am 3 to 4 days a week.

I *think* you can scout and stuff on your own time. At least I hope so, otherwise this is gonna take freakin' FOREVER.

SirFozzie
08-22-2006, 04:27 PM
You make offers all at the same time, usually you can set things like "Once 50 or 75 or some % of users are ready to continue, give anyone left 10 seconds to finish up what they're doing, and then force continue"

How are games run? Do you not have any control and they are just simmed through?

SirFozzie
08-22-2006, 04:31 PM
Games are run just like normal, except everyone plays at the same time, so you may see goal updates from other human games (and if you're not playing you can watch one of the games in progress)

Vinatieri for Prez

Ok, I will give it a try. But not if we do MLS. I would like to go a little higher than the conference league. This will take awhile, and I would rather us not spend the first year (real time) down there. That's fine for SP, but in a network game, I would prefer championship conference, or no lower than 1st in England.

Coffee Warlord
08-22-2006, 05:38 PM
Problem with that is there's far less parity in the upper leagues, and I kinda like the idea of us getting started on a relatively equal footing.

stevew
08-22-2006, 05:46 PM
Can you play national teams only? Not to suggest it here, it might be fun to play towards a world cup every month or two real time.

SirFozzie
08-22-2006, 05:48 PM
We can always run two divisions each with six or so..

Championship and Conference..

Is it safe to assume that any league wouldn't be compatible with FM 07?

SirFozzie
08-22-2006, 06:42 PM
Correct, save games are never compatible from version to version

Coffee Warlord
08-22-2006, 07:36 PM
Hmm. I'm not dead set against it, but I still think it would be far more amusing to get us all in the same level, at least to start.

edit: Although there is definately something to be said about having at least a little cash to try and mold your squad a little more in a MP game.

08-22-2006, 09:36 PM

are you talking about central time again? This is more tempting to me now... 9pm eastern, kids are in bed and I could probably join the group and let my assistant run things for times when I could not be there...

IF you go with reasonable Sunday evening time, I'd sign in. Can't commit to playing around 11 or midnight though...

8 to 11 central would be about the only time of the week that would work for me so sign me up if that's what is chosen by the majority. The wife watches Grey's Anatomy during that time anyway and I usually play my owngame starting at about 8:30.
