So I've got a ton of free time while I watch experiments run (half to be in the room basically incase stuff catches on fire or the actuator tries to slam the ram through the floor) and I've started working on what I've dubbed The Project. Basically I'm making a giant roster file from 1960 to present day. I figure it will take around 75 - 100 hours of work to finish. I'm entering name, team, year, birthdate, hometown, college, rating and kr,pr ratings. Now I do need some help, I've found a file at the pro football reference website that had a csv file of all the offensive skill position players (qb, wr, rb, fb, te,) to ever play a down. However I haven't found anything to do with all the other positions. This is where you guys come in.
I have found at http://www.roogames.co.uk/satteams.htm there is a link to a bunch of database files for 1950-2005, which is good, however it is in access which is bad. Here is what I want someone to do. Write something to extract the players first and last name, position and team.
For example for Willie Brown it would be something like
BrownWi01,Brown,Willie,cb,1963,Den,1964,Den,1965,Den,1966,Den,1967,Oak.....
That's the minimum I would need.
The only problem that leaves me with there are no offensive lineman in the database files and it would be very time consuming to enter in the team information for all of them.
Alternatively, I'm sure there are other databases out there but I haven't found them.
