Hi everybody.
I'm an owner of FOF 4, and don't ask me why, but for some reason I never got around to purcasing FOF 2004.
I'm confused over whether or not I should upgrade to FOF 2004 now, or wait for a rumoured announcement of the next product (be it FOF TCY or FOF 2006)
Just wondering what everyone's insight was about this.
Thanks!
Fredzilla

Welcome!
I don't think anyone but Jim has a clue when the next Solecismic product is coming out.
I love FOF 2004 and would say purchase it, but I definitely see what you are saying.
btw, are you Toddzilla's brother?

I think Jim might offer a discount if you own a previous version? At least if you buy 2K4 now, and he announces a new version in the next couple of months..?

He announced a while ago it would be later this year. So its a matter of a few months at most at this point.

After not owning a FOF version since FOF2k1, I finally bout FOF2k4 yesterday afternoon, oddly enough. Buy it now. I got my $24.95 out of it before I went to bed at midnight last night.

Did he announce he'd release a game later this year or did he announce he'd be making an announcement later this year? Just asking because we've been down that road before.

Lately, I have been playing FOF2004 quite a bit with yabanci's roster and draft files. I would say go ahead and get it.
If you are much of a football fan at all, you will get your money's worth out of it.

THE FUTURE
As we enter 2006, Solecismic Software remains strong. Our goal is to provide cutting-edge sports simulations with clean, simple interfaces. We're not going to waste valuable development time with expensive graphics. We will continue to work on presenting as much information as humanly possible on each game screen, in ways that are clear and easy to understand.
I've now reached eight years "unemployed," the last two working on projects unrelated to released products. My primary long-term goal is to maintain the two football games, keeping them on the cutting edge for this type of career simulation.
While the last two years have been more family-focused, with no new products seeing release, 2006 will mark several changes for the company. We will release a fully updated version of one of our football games this year. We will also move our office (and home) to Michigan at the start of 2007 to be closer to family. That's become more important as our three-year-old son, Gregory, continues to develop in his own manner. We broke ground on our new home at the beginning of March.
As football remains that primary focus, my desire to break into new sports continues to grow, and my notebooks are littered with partial designs for other games. In this field new challenges always beckon, and this has been a tremendously rewarding experience.
I'd like to encourage anyone who feels he or she has a creative side that's being suppressed by today's cubicle farms to take a chance like this just once in life. You may be pleasantly surprised.

That's my feeling, too.
You pay that much to go out to dinner and a movie, and that is only like 3 hours of entertainment. If time permits, I can get 3 hours of entertainment from FOF every day.

I'm glad he hasn't announced anything yet - more time with Madden. ;)
(he'll probably release his new version of FOF tomorrow before I pick up Madden)

I'd say wait. Jim has a strong track record, I think anyway, of releasing games in October (beginning of November at the latest). So it's not far off.
(Although I may be wrong on the releases. I'm pretty sure they've usually been in October, though)

Hi Everybody,
Great feedback everyone. I agree that it's less than dinner and a movie. However, I've bought a few other "toys" this month and my wife "The Hammer" has told me tonight to cool my jets on spending money for a bit. So maybe I'll get it in September if my wife has forgotten by then, Otherwise Hopefully Jim releases something in October.
Hey Toddzilla, it's nice to finally meet my long lost cousin! LOL
