I had to buy it.
For only 21 bucks, you get six new maps, some new weapons and you can play the Italians or French, as well as British or German, dependent on the maps.
The new maps are of Italy, wide undulating hillsides, to hide, and to run around on. All very nicely drawn, Monte Cassino, is by far the most challenging map, battle on the eve of a thunderstorm, the allies have to charge up a hill to a ruined monastary, speckled with artillary, tanks, and snipers...
The biggest problem is finding a nice server, one that is decently moderated, cheat free, and teamwork friendly, hence some of the FOFC gang getting together to form a group.
If you have BF 1942, I see no reason why you shouldn't buy this expansion pack which is a good buy.
