I know there is already a Madden 07 thread but it is very difficult to keep up with impressions between XBOX, XBOX -360, and PC versions. So I thought I would break out a place just for those with the PC version to post impressions and questions. I wasn't even thinking of getting madden this year but if the simmed game stats, coach mode and 2 minute drill AI, and clock maangement are good I might pick up the PC game tomorrow Circuit city has it for 29.99 now. Btw I would love to here people who have the PC version comment on the areas I mentioned above if they can.

I picked it up yesterday and played for a little yesterday. So far, no major complaints. I'm more interested in the franchise / coach only mode, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that things work well this year.

I buy Madden each year for the PC for the Coach-Only leagues I'm in, and so far, not bad. The sliders do need to be adjusted a bit (QB's have a tendency to throw INTs a little much). I do like how it seems certain QB's fall apart in close games.

The pc version is very solid this year version of Madden 2007.
Gameplay is very solid and again the new animations are slick. Franchise mode is solid and I love the new Player Roles.
Even Bill Abner loves the pc version over the console version.

So I get the PC version from GameSpy and install it and give it a go on my new monitor.
Whoa.
Pretty. Really pretty. Not quite NCAA 360 pretty but exceptionally crisp.
Most everything is the same as it is on the Xbox from what I can tell. But I have a player editor (wtf is up with the 360 version not having a player editor?), I have a nice little interface wherein I can use a mouse (yeah!) I have printer and HTML support, and I have my accelerated clock (wtf is up with the 360 version not having an accelrated clock?). How is it that the future of video gaming still lacks all these features? Anyway..
I played my season opener with the Browns against the Saints.
It may have been the most fun I have had with an NFL game (graphics based) in the past, hell I dunno...decade. Solo game, anyway. I had some NFL 2K5 battles online in our league that were epic. But for a game against the CPU...this was just great.
All you need to do is look at the stat line.
Browns 17 Saints 15
I won on a last second 43 yard FG. I scored *17* points in a game of Madden on 13 minute accelerated quarters. I thought it was going to be a shootout, actually. I scored on my first two possessions. Then Frye went cold and Droughns couldn't find the same lanes. Then Frye got hurt late in the 2nd and was out for the game...which meant...Ken Dorsey. Good lord. Dorsey's arm is noodle-fied. His passes in Madden are ssssssslloowww.
So it's 15-14 with 3 mintues to play and Dorsey somehow completes two huge 15 yard passes..I run a few times and get into range and kick a game winner.
What made this so cool was the stat line. It looked like a real game with not one play that made me think "bullshit." No leaping DBs (thank you sliders) and no triple coverage catches.
Bush 23 carries 121 yards (he's kinda fast)
Brees 13/21 213 1 TD 1 INT
Droughns 21 carries 91 yards
Frye 7/11 89 yards then got hurt
Dorsey 5/13 45 yards 0/0
If all of the games play like this one, Madden PC will be the NFL game of choice for me this football season. Still don't know if I'd say it's better than NCAA XB, but there is probably some college football bias in me saying that. Hmm. No, NCAA XB is still the better game. Al Michaels being the deciding factor.

I am very tempted to get this via direct download. Although I never bought 06, so I may just pick that up for 10 bucks instead. I have a PC USB->PS2 controller setup on my machine, it should be pretty fun to play.

Madden 06 suck on the pc.
Madden 2007 is way way better. Its on sale at Circuit City. Last day for the sale is Saturday for $27.99
I'm loving it, the graphics are great, gameplay is great too. I'm really enjoying playing SS as a RB in CAR. It's hard to run, 1 yard gain, 3 yards, -2 yards, 5 yards, - 4 yards and then... you find a good whole afteer a nice block in the line, lower your head, sprint and there you go, 24 yards gain!! Nothing beats the excitement of finding a nice hole for a good gain. In All-Pro the dificulty is great for me. I had to bump the penalty sliders to the max, lower the ints a lot and raise a bit the QB acuracy as they where not completting enought passes.
Madden won't ever be for a me the perfect stats sim so i stopped to look at them as i do in FOF. Madden is to enjoy fast action and watch it in your screen and for that, this version in the PC rocks.

Anyone one recommend a good controller for the Madden PC games? I will probably be playing it in Coach-mode and might try out the superstar mode thing. So it might be a non-factor since I am probaly able to play the game with a basic game pad or the keyboard and mouse. Or is this not true?
This is the one i use, close to the PS2 one but with more buttons. Bought it a year and a half ago for around $20 but there are probably better ones right now.

It has been about 5 years since I bought the PC version of the game. How is online play at this point? Is it very laggy? Are there enough people online that you won't have to wait to get a game?

I tried 2 dual actions, but they eventually broke down. Both times the right Analog started to fail.

USB, yes it works perfectly that I've seen...you have to go to microsoft web site and d/l some small update but I've not had a problem, PC detects it and it shows exactly what type of controller it is.

Unfortunately the sim fatigue bug that was in Madden 2006 on the pc is back on Madden 2007.
The backups don't play in sim games for franshise games. So it makes the stats high for starters. Like Starting rb getting all the carries.
But there will be an 3rd party editor to fix that soon.
When you finish a game, you exit out of Madden, load the franchise file into the utility, run weekly maintenance, and it fixes everything... and I mean everything. Backup runningbacks get carries, quarterbacks stop throwing 5 yard losses 5 times a game, sacks, interceptions, tackles, every stat in the game is fixed... hell, even human pancakes are fixed. It's exceptional, well worth a couple of mouse clicks between games.
Check at football-freaks for updated info when this 3rd party editor comes out.

Well, I got the game and can't install it on my PC the splash screen comes up and when I click to install the screen goes away and then nothing. I have followed all the steps including checking for spyware;).

Right click the .exe application and set it to Windows 2000 emulation. That fixed it for me.

I just played Philliesfan980 ip vs ip coach mode game . Was very fun.
I notice for ip vs ip accerlation clock don't work. so we played 8 mins quarters.
I was the host and it uses the host sliders. I just had game default sliders and put INT to zero.
Sliders do need to be adjusted I think for human vs human for coach mode. Too many sacks and it was hard to run.

Maybe pass blocking needs to go up and knockdown lower.
Running ability and running block up too.
That should help lower the sack and help the run for human vs human coach mode.
Also notice cone is on for ip vs ip coach mode. I had it turn off vs the cpu but its on for ip vs ip games. I didnt see no way to turn it off once we connected.

I went to my local Circuit City to pick up the PC version a couple of hours ago and they didn't even seem aware that it was available on PC. :mad: I looked around and talked to Customer Service but walked away empty handed. Looks like I will be giving an extra $10 to a store that actually knows what they are doing.

The vision cones doesn't seem to affect coach-only games very much. Last year you had to turn them off, but that bug seems to be gone this year.
I'm also up for some Coach Only games, if anyone's interested.

I'd be up for some Coach only games.. but the QB's just don't rid of the damn ball. From my game with JB, I believe that if you blitz on every passing down, you're going to sack the QB about 50% of the time. The QB's just have no sense of pocket presence.

Here is a dumb question. I can'tget the game to play coach mode. I set it in game settings to coach mode but when I go to play agame nothing happens("scratching head")

Not sure what it is exactly, but its been this way for the past 3-4 versions. I'm about ready to say screw it and join a strat-o-matic online league.
Other than the sack crazyness, the game played "OK". I mean look at the numbers. Rushing totals are brutal. Another problem (again, this is only 1 game, but it was prevalent), is that even in designed short plays, the QB just doesn't get rid of the ball quickly. Like if we were playing outside of coach mode, it would be a three step drop and then get it out of there. But in coach mode, its more like 3 step drop, wait a second, move around a little, and get sacked.

Not sure what you mean by "nothing happens".. The play screens don't come up ... you can't select plays ... what do you mean?

Far as I can tell, you (still) cant use a custom team in a franchise? GAH! wtf is the point of a custom team if you can only use it in practice mode?

Can't be certain on this one, but I seem to remember that the folks at football-freaks.com figured out how to get custom teams into franchise mode. You might want to do some research over there. I do seem to remember it being possible on Madden 2005.

I just played the first pre-season game in coach-mode and enjoyed it. But I cannot figure out how to do the pre-snap motion or audibles, which is annoying.. I'm using an older controller so I guess I'll have to learn about mapping.
I don't understand why, if you are playing coach mode, the training camp stuff still wants you to be a joystick jockey.
The graphics are good, but not awesome. 360 looks and feels more like real people playing football, but it's not a huge difference.
I used Redwolf's sliders -- with holding set up to 80 as he had it, I had holding called every play. I put it back down to 50 and had no penalties at all in the first preseason game. Must be a middle ground somewhere..
Far as I can tell, you (still) cant use a custom team in a franchise? GAH! wtf is the point of a custom team if you can only use it in practice mode?
I'm pretty sure you can. In the PS2 version you can, at least. When you are picking what team you want to start as for a franchise, you can press circle to "Load Team".

Can't be certain on this one, but I seem to remember that the folks at football-freaks.com figured out how to get custom teams into franchise mode. You might want to do some research over there. I do seem to remember it being possible on Madden 2005.
I tracked it down over on freaks, its a utility called Team Swapper. Unfortunately its the one for '06 and if you use it on '07 all the players get assigned as a "QB of the Future" and it screws up player roles, among other things. Probably in a few more weeks we'll see an updated version of Team Swapper or a editor to fix what team swapper fuxes.

I am very happy with the PC 07 game this year. last year (after messing with sliders) was pretty good with 3 glaring errors that have all been fixed.
* the stupid franchise moves
* inability to change #'s and POS in franchise
* the complete lack of punt returns.
I have only played about 4 games, but so far I am very pleased with this years version.

Ive set INT @ 25 for CPU/Human, Pass Blocking to 65 for both, upped kickoff length for CPU to 55 and maxed all penalty sliders. Prodicing good results so far. I just moved from 9 minutes qtrs w/accel clock to 10 minutes. Was only getting about 40'ish plays a game on 9 minutes.

Try redfwolf newest version 2 sliders for coach mode.
Be sure to have cone off too.

I must say that I have been very surprised by the addictive quality of the Superstar mode. I have multiple character-itus like in WoW.
A quarterback who is waiting for Favre to retire in Green Bay.
A wide receiver who is currently the #4 in Seattle, plus returns kicks and punts and covers kick offs.
A running back who is behind Jones in Dallas (that one will be a tough one for me).
A starting defensive end for Tennessee.
Oddly it has been some of the little things that I have enjoyed the most. I have loved doing things like covering kicks with my receiver and coming up with a big time stop on the return or surprising a cornerback with a srong block on a running play.

Ugh, I can't register for that site. For some odd reason they load the entire members list in the dropdown for the referred user, so it's painfully slow to load the join page (and i'm on cable). By the time it's done loading, the validation code has already expired. They may want to scrap that referred field, unless it's really important to them.

How do simulated stats look on the PC Version? Is the interception glitch in this game, where all defenders get credit for 2 interceptions for each one they actually get (if so all defenders in a simulated season would have all even totals of interceptions?) Also, is fatigue implemented realistically in the gameplay? Also, is anyone using their 360 controller, and how well does that work? Thanks in advance to anyone who can answer these questions.
Edited to add: How do the game generated draft classes look in the PC version? Are there a ton of DE's at the top of Mel's draft board? Also, is there anyway to use NCAA style drafts or "real" drafts for the upcoming years?

Stats look good.
Only bug on the pc version is the fatigue bug in sim games. But editors at football-freak will fix that.
No fatigue bug in games you play out.
Draft looks great. There a playor editor and updated roster at football-freak too.
Nothing is strip down on the pc version of madden this year. Its the best version of Madden for the pc.

I just simmed through the first year of my custom franchise to find out. Nothing looks to abnormal, but its for sure not perfect....
L.T and Portis fought over the rushing title with 2128 and 2120 yards a piece, after that there seemed to be about 9 RB's with around 1600 yards.
Top passer was Palmer with 3800+ and then Manning with about 3500 if i remember correctly.
INT's looked good, but I cant verify a dupe bug - 7 was the high on the year for INT's.
Tackles looked normal, high was 138.
Pancakes, as usual, were way out of line, top was 90.
Sacks allowed looked ok, high was 12.
Receiving numbers looked normal, I cant remember the high, seemed to be about 1400.
The one lame ass stat that jumped out was Vince Youngs 1200 rushing yards. I imagine all the scrambler type QB's, like every year in Madden, are way too high.

I didnt notice any type of fatigue bug when I simmed my season. I have my RB set to run the ball 85% of the time and the backup ended up getting 230 carries vs the #1 HB with 266. That with a run of 60% of the time.

Rushing yards in sim games will be high because of the fatigue bug only in sim games. backups won't play much in sim games.
But the editor will fix that.

Cool. I think I'll take the plunge on the way home from work. I'll keep the 360 version for now on the off chance that interceptions and fatigue both get patched. If nothing else, it will be good for MP against my best friend in NJ (who only has a 360 and a laptop and has no desire to play Madden on his laptop.)

As far as the 360 controller goes, the regular wired controller works fine on the PC if you download drivers from the Microsoft website. For anyone who's considering paying $5 extra for the "Windows" version of the controller, please don't. They are the same controller, and Microsoft is basically charging $5 extra for the driver disc.

just finished my first draft. I didnt do much checking to see if teams were filling needs, because another major problem diverted my attention. The first 3 picks were all traded by the AI. 1.1 for 1.22 & 2.22, 1.2 for 1.26 & 2.26, 1.3 for 1.16 & 2.16. I was offered 1.6 for 1.9 & 2.9 (not horrible, but declined). Then I was offered 1.20 for 4.9 & 5.9 :/ The stupidity just went on and on, the AI traded picks all over the place in the first couple rounds, most made no sense; it all seemed so random and so very wrong.
Other draft bummers was the rediculous way you scout rookies... first way is to play or watch an all rookie game, yippee. You cant sim it either (so no box score), you must either watch or play it out. Follwed by the "scouting combine" - which is beyond lame. Its comprised of mini games ala the training camp. You dont assign scouting points or anything like that this year - you select a player, select what rookie camp drill you want to play with him and go play the stupid drill. Based on how well you do determines how much info they tell you about the player. So if you suck at some of the impossible mini games (like route running), no scouting info for you!

Saw quite a few of those types of trades (but not as many) on the 360 version. I'm really jonesing for some graphical football. Do people think if the draft AI is bad, that modders could improve it? If not, I'm jonesing so bad, I might just control all 32 teams if it can be done like the 360 version.

Now I am irritated. I went to my local EB Games to buy the game today and they let me know that a PC-CD version doesn't exist, only a PC-DVD version. EA Sports' website only lists a PC-DVD version, but several websites selling the game have box art for a PC-CD version of the game. I figure the box art must be old, but damned if it isn't listed everywhere. It is even being sold on eBay with that box art.

well, i picked it up at circuit city on saturdday for $27.99 much to my delight... checked circuit city at the last minutes and voila...
anyway, playing with my old usb gamepad 6 buttons + 2 triggers...
how on earth do you pull the ball back and have your qb sprint off?

Seems like this game is broken on all platforms.. what a joke for EA's flagship game.
I'm holding onto the 360 version for another few weeks to see if EA is going to do anything.. but I'm not holding my breath.

There are some really interesting sounding utilities out there on Football-freaks site, but they are really getting hammered (download speeds of 1-2k/sec.) Anyway, I haven't seen this mentioned, but there is a new file that integrates strutdaddy's rosters with another guys coaches profiles that sounds really interesting. Reportedly in combination with maddenamp, it gives good simulated stats. Also, the Total Control Simulation within the game sounds interesting for getting realistic stats. Anyone using the Total Control Simulation?

I've been messing with the Super Star mode and noticed that on every kickoff, the kick returner sprinted ahead of his wall before they even had a chance to start running up field. Not terribly smart.

On a side note related to the great NFL Classic Sam Spence music. I wonder if anyone remembers last year someone had converted all the original nfl tracks to mp3. I use to have it but can't find it anymore not even on Football freaks:(

Using AJBBetaStarter League, Maddeneditor, and sliders provided by someone on Football Freaks as well as turning simmed injury stats up to 125% just provided some fairly good season stats in a quick sim (without using the Total Control Sim which takes longer.) There were 3-4 guys out for the season on most of the teams at the end of the year. Overall, I'm quite happy with these stats, even though I think receptions were a bit high and sacks were high.

Overall, stats look good (or at least good enough for me.) Now, to try a few methods I read about on football-freaks to make the draft work well (they have a downloadable 2007 real draft roster already and should have a few more years worth in the next few weeks.)

Just played a half and the gameplay was fairly good, although I had trouble passing with the sliders I was using (which enhanced defense awareness on All Pro.) However, I'm using a 360 controller with the driver from Windows Update. The Right Analog stick isn't being recognized at all. Is there some other driver I should be using to be able to use the right stick for juking/trucking?
Although the gameplay was good, it was wierd going back to the "old engine" which I don't like as much as the 360 engine. Also, obviously the graphics weren't as good, but the other features of franchise that I've viewed so far seem nice. I like the various roles that players can have. If I can get right analog stick working, this should keep me entertained for a while.
Edited again: I LOVE having in-game saves once again..

Unbelievable. I pick this up tonight and what do you know. . . I have in game saves, fantasy draft, all uniforms (including classics), smooth graphics, great gameplay. . .
This will supplant NCAA360 as my game of choice this year for football. I'll be trading in the Madden 360.

I figured out my problem with my 360 controller. Stupid mistake on my part. I had to unplug the controller and then re-plug it after downloading the drivers. Now, everything works well with the juke stick. Looking forward to playing more of my franchise tomorrow.

Now I am irritated. I went to my local EB Games to buy the game today and they let me know that a PC-CD version doesn't exist, only a PC-DVD version. EA Sports' website only lists a PC-DVD version, but several websites selling the game have box art for a PC-CD version of the game. I figure the box art must be old, but damned if it isn't listed everywhere. It is even being sold on eBay with that box art.
Im happy they finally moved to DVD only. They have a direct download too.

From everything I read, there is no way to do so, until the wireless controller update is released later this year. Even the plug and play doesn't work as that cable is only for power and doesn't transmit data.
Edit to add: By the way, yesterday my franchise became corrupted, but I used an unauthorized, beta editor, that may have been responsible (I used the editor with the AJBStarterLeague to turn control all of teams to Human.) Fortunately, I had saved 2 weeks earlier, so the damage wasn't too terrible.

Well, I can forget about the PC version, not just because of the controller issue. I just called the GameStop store from which I purchased the 360 version, and they're only going to give me $35 store credit for this Hall of Fame Edition I bought. I can't say that I'm really surprised, but I'm disappointed. The game's been out for a week, I paid $70 for it, and I'd have to eat a $35 loss for a game that I spent 2 hours playing.
I understand that the store makes big money off the trade-ins, and it's not up to me to tell them how to run their business. I'm just really disappointed and would rather just deal with the 360 version as-is. I guess I'll watch this silly DVD that came with the Hall of Fame Edition, and maybe that'll make me feel like I got my money's worth.

Start by checking for sound and video driver updates. Those seem to be the most likely candidates for problems like these.

Sliders has no affect for IP to IP online games on the pc.

The sliders for the game will go to default for network games like IP to IP. This is by designed so that the sliders will be the same for both players.

Not yet. Struttdaddy who makes the rosters apparently had a computer outage for about a week. He recently posted that he should have opening day rosters ready by Tuesday. Than, the guy that makes the starter franchise file says he will need a few days to edit all of the other things. Looks like it will be done by next weekend, barring any set backs.

The name of the mod is AJBStarterLeague or something very similar to that and it is designed to work with either MaddenAmp or Madden editor.
However, I'm glad you reminded me. Going to check on it now myself.

Does a standard 360(wired) controller work on the PC? I'll probably eventually get a 360, i know they make the 360 controller for PC, but i would prefer to have the one that works on the system. Is there any difference in the 2?

A Standard Wired 360 computer works perfectly with the PC if you download some free drivers. With Madden, the icons even coorelate to the controller (X, A, B, etc.)

Man, I finally got my copy last night. This game is crazy addictive. I started a franchise with Pittsburgh, playing AP and 9 minute quarters(with acclerated clock). I still suck since I haven't played madden consistently in years(bought some older ones, 98, 99, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 but hardly ever played them). Game 3 made me smile though, as I'm in a tight 10-9 game with the Bengals, and suddenly Ike Taylor jumps an out route intented for 85 and runs it back 70 some yards for a TD. The rest of the game I spent killing the clock.
I haven't had this much fun with Madden in forever.

Hmm. I just got some notice when I tried to play online that my exe wasn't updated and to get the current version, but when i click on the updater on the Play/update/quit menu, it tells me there is no new version availble.

Is anyone playing online? I just got fucked over by some stupid kid who pulled 3 sych errors in a row when i dropped back to pass and then blocked a punt to win in overtime. And then admitted he cheated basically.
I'd gather if you play ranked this type of shit doesnt happen?
