Just giving a heads up, we are starting up the MBBL's second season early next month. We have two weekends a month we get the whole league together for Blood Bowl with some games on the side as well. If you are interested shoot me a PM.

Yes, unfortunately we're using the optional rule with the free FF. I'm not a fan of that, neither is the commish, but he let it go in.

My one issue with the new ruleset is my woodies are no longer a no brainer in how to construct them, so I have to decide whether I want a second WD to start or if I want a treeman. The second WD may seem like a no-brainer, but there are some pretty good reasons why the tree should be the pick over the WD.

Regarding the new ruleset, I like it quite a bit. Bashy teams can bash, and agility teams can still dodge, but it is difficult to actually "break" a team with the new freebooter rules. In all the old versions of the game, it was actually pretty easy to break a woodie or skaven team in the first few games and ruin the fun for those coaches, now it is much more difficult to do.

Grab and wrestle look like great skills against a formed cage so the game will hopefully be a little more dynamic on the pitch as well.

warhammer : to me, the WD is a no brainer over a treeman.

The success of a wood elf team is determined by the ability of the lineelves. If you have good lineelves, you will go far, if you don't, the team is going to fall apart, regardless of how good your positional players are.

Early on, you are going to have some injuries occur. You need to have enough injury fodder to absorb injuries. Remember, the apothecary is saved only for the Wardancers. Also, with the new apothecary rules, you get a second injury roll, the player is not completely healed. Therefore, I think it is more important to have a hardy player in the middle of the field.

Also, with only one Wardancer, you are forced to use your lineelves more which means more SPPs for them. That means more skills, which if you use those on block and dodge increases their survivability exponentially.

Taking the treeman means that you have one less elf that is on the LoS at the kickoff which means one less casualty victim. Plus, the treeman is usually a big target for fouls, which is fewer fouls being aimed at the other elves.

Under the old rules, I would never take a treeman this early, since I would be concentrating on FF. Since FF is not as important to your winnings, this move makes sense.
