Played the demo and hated it. Don't let your kids get near this one. The swearing is what you would get in an R rated movie. Basically missions to go kill people and move up the ranks in your gang.

Although if you liked GTA, you will probably like this too.

Seems like my copy's already shipping, according to my tracking number. Hopefully this'll come in for me by Wednesday at the latest. I'm actually curious about the multiplayer component that I've been reading about on the previews.

I've read it's taken all of the little gripes of GTA (aiming system, unlocking areas) and basically improved all of them.. plus it's in HD, so....... mine's in, I'll pick it up tonight!!

One guy was saying he's put in roughly 20 hours (said he got it yesterday) and the game meter says he's 61% done, while not terrible - it doesn't sound as promising as GTA in that department.

I've read about 30-40 hours total, which for me and two kids.. will be just fine, plus the online stuff should be fun.

IGN has a decent review up, they seem to really drive home the fact it's a GTA clone, and ultimately say it's the best effort made out of all the non-GTA clones but not quite up to the same snuff. Forced humor, too much cursing ect. They give a good run-down of the multiplayer, that part sounds like it could also be pretty fun. 8.5 overall.

I don't call them or anyone the "holy grail" when it comes to reviews, but this one is exactly what I want from this game so I posted it. IGN gave it an 8.5 due to the fact it's not an "original" idea.

I'm still out on this one. I'm not the greatest at GTA and it sounds like the characters and story aren't up to GTA snuff.

So this'll probably be a pass, esp. after Madden, which I'm returning tonight, I think.

**Early Impressions**

ANY game that starts out with Eric B and Rakim, "I aint no joke" is starting off on the right foot for me. :)

Beautiful game, so far I like the controls so much better than GTA and the game seems a little more involved story wise. The explosions are really well done as well as the surroundings.

Back to the game. I think I'll get me some Gin and juice and then pick up my piece so I can cap some fools. I will say, the gangs are brutal. I've seen a few cops shot and beat to death so far.

Definitly something to play only when the kids are outside or asleep.

EBGames has a trade-in special going, trade in any 2 360 games and get Saint's Row for $9.99. I might trade NCAA and Top Spin 2 for it.

There are a lot of restrictions on that trade in (06 sports games/PDZero/Ridge Racer).

I was guessing 8.2 or so review score for the game. 8.5 from IGN sounds about right (they're usually the higher of them and Gamespot).

As for Gamepro, their reviews are way too kind. They're totally a fluff magazine.

There are a lot of restrictions on that trade in (06 sports games/PDZero/Ridge Racer).

This is what I am hearing around the net, but the manager at my EB said he hasn't heard about any restrictions like this. He also said that you could get any $59.99 game for $9.99. I am trading Tony Hawk and Tiger Woods '06 today for Enchanted Arms at $9.99.

I played it all night last night and I'm really digging it. The controls are so easy once you learn them. Aiming is sooo easy, which makes it much better than GTA already.

I might actually finish this game compared to GTA.

Pretty fun game so far, it does a couple of things much better than the GTA series, but lacks a lot of the cool little extras that makes GTA so great.

Couple things I love, the minimap auto-plotting routes for you when you set a waypoint or on a mission, I love it..I'm not constantly bringing up the map to figure out where I am.

The controls as far as shooting blow GTA as way. Just a lot smoother than the crapshoot auto-targetting.

Oh, and the insurance fraud activity, that's great stuff.

I really do like the set-up. Watching college football in HDTV is the bomb. But, I am having some problems with the XBOX360. For example, I can not see the top part of my screen in Saints Row. I just got to mess around with it a bit.

Make sure the switch on the HD cables for the 360 are set to HDTV and not SDTV.


Edit: I'm watching my first full games of college football in HD and it really is amazing how much better the game looks. :)

FWIW, I had mine set on SDTV and it wouldn't go HD, but it didn't make a difference in the picture otherwise; on the other hand, while in a motel I had the cables set on HDTV and I couldn't get a picture on the standard TV.

The wife rented this for me. Pretty damn good game so for, although I agree with one review I read on may things. Clearly a GTA copy, no one denies that, but they did improve on several things and kind of put scaled down versions of other GTA things into the game.

I love the shooting/aiming in this game. The driving is ok, but I miss the super speed you can get up to in GTA, and I miss motorcycles. The graphics are just beautiful. I am slightly annoyed your character never speaks. The missions have been pretty fun so far, as have the side activities. They do seem a little on the easy side so far though.

Other things I like are the breaking into stores and robbing them when they are closed, buying stuff there when they are open. Love the energy system for your character going back up on its own.

And if you haven't 'pimped' out a car yet, I suggest trying it. There are tons of choices, I was surprised.

And I don't get people saying how much cursing there is? I think it is way less then GTA: San Andreas.

1. You can get more ammo buy killling guys and picking up theirs (if they have the same gun as you).
2.It's not just you, the shooting/aiming took me a bit longer to get used to then I would have liked and I am still screwing up once in a while. Same thing with adjusting the camera while running. I still like it though, I just need more time with it.
3. You can duck, but no real way to pop up and shoot, then pop back down. Kind of limited in that way I think, just shoot the guys fast. If you noticed your enemy will zig-zag back and forth. I have started to do the same. Helps avoid some hits, and helps me shoot them faster.
4.I dunno. You keep starting over though?

During the insurance fraud activity, there was an Ambulance that was parked and wouldn't move.. all I had to do was back up, sprint forward and thunk off the front over and over..

One problem with this game is 'gaps', or problems in the graphics. I was in the middle of the an insurance fraud activity, and on my way to the next area my car all of a sudden disappeared and my guy was stuck floating in mid air. I couldn't move. I tried shooting people/cops hoping they would kill me but it didn't work and I ran out of bullets. At the same time the sound was in and out. Finally for some reason I figured I would try to save it. I did, and when I came back everything went back to normal.

I also had an incident where I was in the middle of something and all of te sudden i was falling below the city into a put of blackness. I could rotate the camer and look up and saw the city from a bottome view. It ws kind of cool. It ended up saying I died for some reason.

I am looking at getting the 360 live stuff. But, the estimate I put together was costly. It was like 100 for the wireless adapater, 60 for a 12 month subscription, and 70 for a decent router. That is roughly $230, which seems a bit high.

I'm still playing through the single player mode (haven't ventured online yet), and thought I'd try and completely wipe out the Los Carnales missions, but got stuck on what was the final (?) mission at the airport.

The difficulty suddenly jumped up to a rather insane level for me, with guys on the hangar and building rooftops firing rockets at you while at the same time, you're trying to damage the plane just enough.

I guess the fact that you're in a moving vehicle makes things even more tricky, but I swear I've attempted this damn mission 8 times already but with no success...

Couldn't you just get a normal router (pretty cheap), and a really long ethernet cable and just hook it up that way?

I was having a blast with the game last night doing the Insurance Fraud activities. There's nothing like a head-on collision with an ambulance in a stolen police car. :D

I'm not a fan of the music though so I really need to set up my music on the computer to stream them into the game.
