Bengals O looked solid on Monday...granted they were playing the sieve that is the Packers D, but still. I see the Bengals winning that one.
And man, I hope the Packers can get it together...

The Chiefs are going to do so bad they're going to call in the Bills to play the 4th quarter?

Dola, if the Niners can keep it within 10 of the Cards, I'll be happy.
Although last season, we "stole" one from a St. Louis team in week one that no one expected us to win.
The Eli era begins....i hope.

Bears will get their shit together because it's Green Bay (at least on defense, who knows what the offense will do), and Favre will wish he retired.

Longtime Cardinals fan here. The Cardinals are usually pretty bad on opening day. Don't be surprised if the Niners win outright.
Edit to add: And not just opening day, obviously.

"Eli era" - a few years from now we will have to pause for a moment to remember what he was talking about and who this Eli person was. :D

I went to the Chiefs-Giants game in the Meadowlands last year. Judging from the Giants' fans reactions, Tiki is the second coming and Eli was the other team's QB. They don't like Eli too much. I will admit they appeared to be a pretty fickle bunch though.

You know the world is upside down when everyone is picking the Cardinals to beat the 49ers (rightfully so).

Am I the only one to be surprised that the Eagles out-right cut Pinkston and decided to go with Stallworth as the #2 guy.

Yes.
Not only does Pinkston stink, he's hurt as well.

So they gave Pinkston time to negotiate a trade, and the responses he got back were so resounding (NO THANKS!) that his "window of opportunity" ended 24 hours later? Gold!

If the bears defense doesn't score 0-0 tie? This seems like a total trap game to me. The packer fans are going to be fired up for this one.

I would highly recommend starting all Seattle Seahawks you can in week one. It will not be pretty.

Fans will be, sure. The team, however, sucks.
The Bears D also has something to prove, coming off a shit preseason. Add that to the joy of teeing up on Favre, and it's gonna be ugly.
Last year doesn't count?
After the playoff game against Carolina, no, it doesn't count.

I'll take the Broncos over the Rams in a suprisingly low scoring game.

It doesn't matter. This is not a good football team. Josh McCown has looked the best of the three QBs in the pre-season, but that's not saying much.
Former second pick overall, Charles Rogers, will be cut tomorrow.
That means the Lions' have basically "cut" the 2002 3rd pick overall and 2002 2nd pick overall. This is how a team consistently sucks in a league that strives for parity.

IF the Bengals win in KC, I'll be very happy. Most people are gonna predict a shootout, and if the Bengals can hold Larry Johnson in check, Sam Adams will have to play a huge role. I'll take Cincy 31-27.

Yeah, it was shameful that KC gave that game to Cinci like they did. All the Chiefs had to do was hold on to the ball and it would have been a much different game. The cheap shot on Green obviously didn't help either. KC was gaining momentum at that point and moving the ball really well. Thankfully, it appears he'll be alright and shouldn't miss much time. Win's a win and I'm sure Cinci will take it no matter what.

Actually I just sat here and rewound the highlite shots from Sportcenter NFL Blitz.
3 differnt angles, the first two it looks like a bit of a late hit, but then on angle 3 from a higher and further downfield view it actually shows geathers being blocked INTO green.
Geathers was going for him, no doubt, but it looks like a TE or WR tries to hit Geathers to stop him and just launches geathers faster.
Either way, it was too close of a thing to call a foul, he didn't hit greens head, he didn't use his own helmet, his shoulder hit Green's chest and the whiplash slammed Green's helmet down reDICulously hard.
X-rays on Trent's head and neck are negative and he has feeling everywhere, reports apparently say he remembers everything except that specific play.
probably a good thing.
Hope he returns for you next week. he's a class act.

Isn't it fun to read the losing teams take on a game? I know I do it too, but come on now.
The bengals held johnson to less than 100 yards, sacked the QB 7 times (yes folks SEVEN) took a few turnovers and pounded the ball on the ground.
How is that KC "handing Cinci the game"? That sounds to me like a stronger team simply outplayed them on this occasion.
As for the cheap shot, my previous post handles that, was a terrible outcome, but a perfectly clean play. These things happen. It happened to Carson last year, you just gotta keep playing. And besides, you got yer lone TD AFTER he got knocked out....so in effect we HELPED you ;)

KC had several BAD turnovers. Our offensive coordinator in the red zone called a run on 3rd and 5 because he thought it was 2nd down. Our backup QB carried the ball like a loaf of bread. Even the Bengals players in the KC paper today commented that they didn't play well but thankfully KC played worse.
That's the definition of handing a win to the other team. That Bengals win was mostly due to the fact that KC forgot to show up for some reason. Not sure how that can happen on opening day in Arrowhead, but it did.

Hey.........how come you didn't respond in the other thread where you said you "were gonna take notes" on how Pamer wouldn't be worth the 34 points different this time around??? Looks like he's worth 47. :) Would Trent Green have been worth 14 points in a quarter and a half?????

Yes, because a team coming off an 11-win playoff season certainly isn't capable of winning on their own merits. The Chiefs got beat. Every week, that happens to 16 NFL teams. Luckily these days, the Bengals are more often than not on the winning end.
I'm glad to hear Green's OK. I hope he plays this season and plays well.

KC got some breaks as well. There was a fumble. The #2 WR didn't play and that was not as well as Carson Palmer can play. If you think that was the Bengals at the top of their game, you're nuts.

Hard to be disappointed with the outcome, even though the 49ers lost. Alex Smith didn't look lost, the defensive front seven performed extremely well, and they had a shot at a win by the end of the game. Not a terrible start. Hopefully they can keep it up against a team that doesn't have as terrible an O-Line and Defense as the Cardinals.
