Does anyone know if the Road Hazard Waranty on Tires is worth the extra money on a city car?

After finally convincing the tire shop to order the tires I wanted, and not the Tires they had instock, I check out my Tire Quote when I arrived home and found an extra $100 tacked onto the Quote.

$600 - 4 Tires
$55.04 - Road Hazard Warranty
$40.00 - Life Time Balance
$8.00 - Valve Stems

Then there is a little fine print at the bottom of the page stating that the Road Hazard is only good for 25% of treadwear.

And what is up with the Lifetime Balance. I have my tires rotated accourding to schedule, but I have never had them balanced, except when first purchased.

Are these extra little warranty things worth the price of a brand new tire?

I suppose to a certain degree it's personal preference. If you have your tires balanced each time they are rotated, it will help extend the life of your tires. Tire balancing is usually $40-$50, so if you have your tires balanced twice, it will pay for itself.

Does the lifetime balancing also include lifetime rotation? We just put four tires on my wife's car and the offer include lifetime rotation as part of hazard and balancing for about the price you've listed, so we pulled the trigger.

Tires always have a huge markup with everything, so I'm really not suprised. I always ask for "installed" prices instead of "per tire" when i get them.

I'm not sure about the road hazard, but the balance is probably worth it if you think you would use it. If you're buying your tires from a tire store, then you have to realize you'll be making a special trip to that store to get the balancing done. I think the inconvenience factor is the biggest thing, as opposed to whether the service itself is worth it.
