It's TEAL NIGHT fellas!!!!!
http://www.tealnight.com/images/logo.gif

So we have the Steelers vs the Jaguars, in Alltell Stadium. And me and a shoe vs Joe Theesman and the TV. I hate that dude, he fucking sucks at his announcing job.

Some Impressions.

The Steelers always play like shit in Jacksonville. I don't feel good about this game at all.

QB: I'd take Ben any day of the week, but that's not saying that Leftwich is a slouch either. I like that kid a lot. Ben may struggle since he didn't play a ton in the preseason, and had an appendix. Theesman will also make this point approximately 15 times tonight.

RB. I hate Fred Taylor, I've seen him run over the Steelers too many times. I hope that Hampton can collapse the line enough to contain Taylor to between 60-80 yards. Parker looked very good in the first game of the season. His YPC wasn't spectacular, but he was running with Zach Thomas attached to his waist all game. I'd like to think he'll break a couple good runs this week, but I'll be happy with 80 yards on 20 carries. I would like to see Najeh "Dump Truck" Davenport get some burn, although he may not be active.

WR. I love Matt Jones, but he should draw Ike Taylor. Who I think should do a decent job at holding him down. I'm glad that Jimmy Smith retired....him and McCardell used to kill us. Hines Ward is getting healthy, and he can just get open.

Line: Haven't watched the Jags since they gave up 5 sacks to McGinnest, but I'm sure they've fixed that. Hopefully Porter and/or Haggans can get some pressure on Leftwich, if they give him time he can air it out.
Steelers line is pretty good on the left, okay on the right. If they can keep the Jags out of the backfield, that will free up Heath Miller for the interior of the field. If he has to block, that's a lost weapon. Casey Hampton vs the Jags interior should be a good matchup.

Secondary. The Jags secondary talked a lot of shit after they beat Tommy Mad ducks last season. It would be nice to see Rasheen Mathis get burnt a couple times. Donovan Darius is a guy that would have made a great Steeler. I don't cringe that much anymore when the Steelers secondary is trying to cover someone. It's a weakness that has turned into a strength, though they give up too many big plays still.

All in all it should be an entertaining game, even though Cockmouth Theisman will be calling it. Worst case scenerio I'll break out the radio.

I hope we don't have to hear that terrible "Leftwich's arm was run over by a car!!" story again. Oh wait, of course we will....

Let's see, we'll have the Arm run over by a car, the leftwich getting carried by his linemen montage. Also there will be talk of how he has 2 motorcyles and doesnt always wear a helmet.

Of course all the Big Ben staples will be there, as well as some shout outs to the MAC.

I'm just glad I don't have to hear "Rookie QB" anymore. That phrase was used 2 times a minute back in 2004.

he was running with Zach Thomas attached to his waste all game.

That's disgusting.

In all fairness, everyone looks like shit at Jacksonville. I don't know what it is about that place that sucks the good out of everyone and lets the mediocre Jags offense score about 23... just enough to squeak games out.

Teal Night?

I guess it was inevitable. . .

Is there anything that strikes more fear in the opposing team than "Teal Night"?

It would be cool if they could get the people in the right seats to wear white shirts to spell out "TealNight.Com" as in the picture.

This is a very good question. The only thing I can think that might, just might strike more fear in the hearts of the opposis team are those Detroit Lions' third black jerseys. Those are terrifying.

Yes, but they would have to ask the 20k steelers fans to move. And there's a good chance that they wouldn't be amenable to that.

JACKSONVILLE, FL -- The Jacksonville Jaguars are gearing up for Monday Night Football. The Big Cats take on the defending Super Bowl Champions, the Pittsburgh Steelers tonight. The Steelers and their fans have the "Terrible Towels." The Jags have their teal!

Jacksonville Mayor John Peyton has proclaimed Monday, September 18th, as All-Teal Day. He wants everyone to wear teal to work and school. At the game, he's hoping to see a sea of teal as Alltel Stadium becomes All-Teal Stadium.

Many fans are ready for the game. They plan to support their team by wearing teal. Some will paint their faces and their bodies.

This will be the Jaguars first Monday Night game since 2001. That season they played the Green Bay Packers at home. They are hoping for a win tonight against the Super Bowl Champs. You may remember, the Jaguars beat the teams (Pittsburgh Steelers and Seattle Seahawks) that went to the Super Bowl last year at home.

The game starts at 8:30 p.m. But the fun will start much earlier. Many fans plan to tailgate and get pumped up for the big game.

It's my understanding that Jacksonville hospitals have colored their whole blood supply teal in honor of tonight's game.

There is a word for that phoenomenon. It's called "good defense"

I love the JagNation thing, too. Ha! The same Jags that were having difficulty selling out games a few years ago? If you don't have a waiting list for season tickets, is your fan base really big enough for the ridiculous "nation" moniker?

This and the line that "Ben had an appendix" in the initial post have me LOL.

God yes... Warren Sapp was pretty funny last week, but everyone else has been painfully awkward. Almost as painful as the announcer having to go into a detailed explanation of the Joey Porter "joke"

I normally don't complain about announcers a lot, but Kornheiser is absolutely worthless. Dennis Miller was better. Theisman is annoying too. Mike Tirico is the only one who I like.

Well, this sucks. Need to find some offense soon, or they will easily go into the bye week 1-2.

Thanks to that last minute interception, it appears that I'll pull out a half point win in my FF money league. Who would have thought that I could have come back from five points down when he had Hines Ward & the Steeler defense and I had just the Jacksonville defense. The Jags are my new second favorite team (at least until next week).

He pretty well has been horrible the last 2 weeks. I hope they leave him inactive for a few games until he learns some basic rules of football.

Nice game by Reggie Williams. Perhaps the light switch turned on for him this off-season and he realized he actually has to work hard and practice hard and not just rely on his physical gifts in order to succeed in the NFL.

Reggie Williams has looked very good for 2 weeks in a row now, against 2 solid Defenses no less. something definetly clicked this offseason

Maybe he just realized that the Best Young WR Named Williams competition is not the lock everyone thought it was.

Heh - well, Mike Williams hasn't made any friends with the Lions' new coaching staff, and Roy Williams shows flashes but hasn't yet put it together (and is still nagged by injuries). There's still time for Reggie to establish himself as the best of the bunch.

Reggie's always had the talent, but it's been his attitude and willingness to work hard to maximize his talent that has been lacking. He could get away with sloppy routes in college where his physical ability was enough to overcome poor work habits, but not in the NFL.
