View Full Version : Law & Order: Season 147

So... who else saw the Law & Order season premier last night?
I thought it was your typical "Ripped from the Headlines" snoozefest with the laughable fake celebrities.
What I wanted to touch upon (no pun intended) is the two new women on the show. I know that of late, L&O goes for style over substance. But these two broads are already getting on my nerves! The cop is going to spend the season whining that Van Buren is too hard on her, then acting too tough just to prove that a woman is as tough as a man (yawn.) The ADA is even worse... she looks like a skull wrapped in skin and talks like the Micro-Machines guy!
Oh, how I miss Lenny Briscoe and Paul Robinette (or Claire Kincade!)
Is it too early to hope they both die at the end of the season (or before?)
I still think Ed O'Neal would be great as a detective on the show, restoring some legitimacy. In the ADA chair, they should look for a strong presence that could take over for Waterston... the man is 65 years old and can't keep the role up believably for too much longer. If/when Fred Thompson leaves, McCoy could possibly take over the DA role, allowing the strong ADA to take the lead spot.
Law & Order could have several more excellent seasons left... but not going down the road it's been heading down.

i enjoyed the pseudo-KFed actually. that gave me a laugh.
I've never been happy with any "new" character on any iteration of L&O, it always takes a while for me to warm up to whoever it is.

This is why SVU is my favorite L&O, because they've kept most of the crew from the pilot still around. It's sad Stephanie March isn't on there anymore :(

SVU rocks. I <3 pretty much the whole cast. Benson...Stabler...Ice T, Munch, Captain. Their new ADA is alright, it'd be yummier if they had an ADA tag-team though. But yeah, I'm an SVU junkie.

They lost 2 of the detectives, but I didn't really like them anyway. Michelle Hurd was pretty good, but Dean Winters as a cop just didn't work at all. Also, the show has gotten much better since they dumped Stabler's family.

WOW!
I thought there was only 17 seasons, did I completely miss 130 seasons? That is some piss poor marketing if I didn't hear anything about the show for 130 seasons.:D
I do agree with most in this thread. I feel like the show jumped the shark after Briscoe died. It just hasn't been the same. SVU is so much better. I still watch the original L&O, but it seems like the characters they bring on, or at least the actresses/actors can't act worth a poo poo. Detective Green and Lieutenant (S. Epatha) are the best people on the show.
It seems like the producers are going with hot brunettes instead of who can act. Not a bad gameplan, but it hurts in the long run. The move to Fridays sucks as well. Although, when I think about the viewing audience of the original L&O, it is primarily an older audience, which probably aren't partying from happy hour friday to sunrise on Saturday morning.
I give it 2.5 Colossal Squids out of 5, mainly because of the eye candy, but the formula is getting old.

I prefer Criminal Intent. But it's usually the only one I am home to see.

I really like the new woman on SVU. Why is it that everything they do on SVU seems to work, but on the main show Wolf just seems to muck it up more with every move?
In a perfect world, when Olivia comes back on SVU this new dame jumps shows.

The new Detective on L&O = Hot, but unbearable as an actress. Die in a Fire.
The new ADA on L&O = Hot and sassy. Me likey. A keeper.
The new Detective on L&O:CI = Meh. Take her or leave her.
The new Sgt. on L&O:CI = Annoying with god-awful Robert Reed perm. Hope he suffers the same fate.
The new Detective on L&O:SVU = Cute, has potential.

New Sgt on L&O, do you mean L&O CI?

I've been watching all the old Homicide: Life on the Street episodes on the (new?) Sleuth channel, now there is a hell of a good police show.

Watch the Wire on HBO. It's everything that Homicide wanted to be, with the gloves off. It's fantastic. (By the same creators as Homicide, and many of the same actors show up as well)
