View Full Version : Speaking of internet radio stations....

One of my favorites, WOXY.com, went defunct on September 15th. They had 4 DJ's, and a subscriber base of about 2200 paying $10 per month to listen to 2 streams of what they refer to as "modern rock". See the playlists there for an example of what they used to play.

They decided right around 9/1 that their attempts at attracting advertiser money, acquisition interest, and building their subscriber base was ultimately failed, and decided to shut down after 2 years as an internet only radio station, which followed 21 years as a Dayton/Cincinnati OH over the air radio station (97X, 97.7 FM).

I grieved over the station 2 years ago, but was mostly non-plussed by the 2nd shut down... but look at the news item attached. Some entrepreneur (or SUPPOSED entrepreneur) has essentially slipped into the message boards and offered to buy the station and put it back on the air. A 3rd try at being a money-making enterprise for this.

This is kind of a crazy story, but one I thought I would share since I know there are/were a few others here who have listened to WOXY in the past.
