I know that several others have posted that they are into Geneology stuff, so I thought I'd ask...

My brother just made a trip to Ireland to and met some distant cousins and saw some sties that are significant in our family... In doing so, he has re-sparked his interest in our gamily geneology.

Being the web-geek he is, he wants to post this stuff on the web. For now he has it up on http://www.gencircles.com but is not real happy with the interface.

Any recommendations on good sites to use?

Ancestry.com is the EA of online genealogy research. It is expensive though. I have an old account that still allows me to update my family tree that I have up there, but, I don't pay anything for it.

Try rootsweb.com, I haven't gone there in a while, so I would'nt be surprised if it has been swallowed up by ancestry.com by now.

There is also cindislist.com. An absolutely excellent resource for family research. Tons and tons of links.

He signed up for the smallest membership at ancestry and loves it so far, thanks for the advice!

I'm tempted to post a geanology chart for one of my CK games. :D

If you buy the leading software (Family Tree Maker), it comes with a subscription to ancestry.com (depending on version: standard, deluxe and platinum). I got a 6-mo. sub with my standard version.

Thanks, I passed the info along.

You're welcome. Glad I could help.

The message boards on the site are a good resource too.
