i did not watch much of the monday nite game but when i did i seemed to notice that theismann seems to be somewhat quieter thus less irritating. was that my imagination?

my other observation is that Herbstreit is so good that he is having a positive influence on Bob Davey. i would go so far as to say that in all of the football announcers and analysts in college and pro Kirk Herbstreit is the #1 superstar. he is always a pleasure to listen to in all situations. the pre-game show on saturday morning blows everything else away.

Herbstreit went to my high school in Centerville Ohio. I never met him (I moved there my junior year, and it was a big school), but he seems like a good guy. I'm glad to see him do so well.

Yeah, between Kornheiser and Theismann, I would have put money down before the season started that I would continue to be more annoyed at Theismann. But it's the complete opposite.

My wife also graduated from Centerville...Herbstreit is a God around these parts. For my money, he's the best color commentator in football...college or pro. I also noticed he has influenced Davey as well as forcing Musberger to keep passing things back and forth to the other two guys and having him just do play by play.

I listened to a Mike Tirico/Kirk Herbstreit bowl game last year, and it was a great pairing. Very enjoyable.

What year? I graduated in 1989. Small chance I might have known her. :)

Fuck Herbstreit - whenever I play bowl games in NCAA '06 he picks against my team.

It's just your imagination. Kornheiser has put him in his place a ton this season. My favorite is when Theisman said Big Ben was back and then TWO plays later said he wasn't ready. Kornheiser called Theisman out on this, it was great.

Herbstreit is a guy I can listen to all day for football. He isnt an idiot when he is talking and he actually makes sense. Davey on the other hand is just a sloppy mess.

Dawgfan you bring up a great point. Ive noticed the same thing, which is kinda weird. I always just chucked it up to him being an Ohio State guy when i play with Penn State :)

I agree. As much as I like Tony, I think he is a fish out of water. Joe can be annoying but I think his perspective as a former players adds some value to the booth. At this point Tony only value is to piss off Joe, to which its getting a little old. They need to stop the experiments with non football guys or TV professionals in the booth. Didn't work with Dennis Miller and I doubt if we see Tony next year.
