The new season begins in 2 days and I am very excited to see whta is going to happen to Jack, Kate and Sawyer. Also, will Hurley really go back to the camp and not mention anything? How many new bunkers will we find this season? I have so many more questions that I'd like to see answered.
So let the crazy theories begin...

Should put spoliers warning in the thread title.
So we can talk about spoilers in here too.

Yeah, the spoilers warning thing is retarded.
And why would Hurley not mention anything? They told him tell everyone they were not supposed to bother them I thougt.
Anyways, just saw all of season two a few weeks ago and it was great. An added bonus was it really got the wife into the show too. So now she may be recording the shows for me tis season as she watches them.

It will be interesting to see if the show's best season (or seasons) of Lost are behind us. I still thought it was very good last year, but I can see it going downhill in a hurry if the stretch it for too much longer.
The writers said at Comic Con they plan on ending the show at season 5. Who knows if that's true..the only thing I want this season is Locke to return to his season 1 self.

i think American tv shows need to adopt the HBO format - shows that don't drag on and go out on the top instead of crawling away in a whimper. if the plot/premise of your show is only good enough to sustain 4, maybe 5 seasons - then end it. don't continue it just cuz of ratings. this show will implode on itself if it goes on until the ratings drop off. i like the show but after a while i can only take so much mystery and unsolved plots. Deadwood (a show i couldn't get into) will be coming off the air, Rome (one of my favorite shows) won't be around forever, HBO knows when to end a good thing.

HBO knows when to end a good thing.
Except in the case of the Sopranos. I would say that show has been spinning it's wheels since the end of season 3. If I was pressed into telling someone my opinion on the show I would say watch seasons 1-3 and call it quits.

A lot of questions since the final last season.
WHO ARE THE OTHERS?
They're creepy, wear fake beards and have captured Kate, Jack and Sawyer. Are they "the good guys," as one high-ranking Other said, or are they up to no good? Finally finally! that enigma will be addressed this season, producers have teased. They better deliver. Also, expect to see much more of bug-eyed Other/hatch escapee Henry Gale, played by new series regular Michael Emerson.
WHO WILL KATE FALL FOR?
It's about time, Kate. The freckled tough girl (Evangeline Lilly) will finally make a choice between doctor-leader Jack (Matthew Fox) and con man Sawyer (Josh Holloway). Early intel suggests Cupid's arrow is pointing at a Kate-Sawyer hookup they ARE a couple of good-lookin' outlaws. Why that coupling? According to an ABC press release, "Romance looms on the horizon as Jack's interests veer towards a mysterious woman, whose motives may be questionable."
WHY WAS LOCKE IN A WHEELCHAIR?
John Locke (Terry O'Quinn) lost of a bit of his faith last season, thanks to his frustration with entering that numbered sequence (4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42) on the keyboard every 108 minutes. Still, he can't deny the island's mysterious healing powers, which apparently cured his four-year paralysis and allowed him to walk again after Oceanic flight 815 crash-landed. Those powers and why exactly Locke was bound to a wheelchair in the first place will be explored this season, "Lost" experts say. One theory: Locke, who helped his deadbeat father withdraw stolen money from a bank, was handicapped by angry victims of the crime.
WHO IS THE FATHER OF SUN'S UNBORN BABY?
Pre-crash, a doctor said Sun's loving husband, Jin (Daniel Dae Kim), was infertile. There are three possible explanations for Sun's pregnancy: The island healed Jin's infertility (worked for Locke, leg-wise); the zygote formed inside Sun (YunJin Kim) but is neither hers nor Jin's (creepy!); or Jin is not the baby-daddy. That guy could be Jae Lee, who gave Sun secret English lessons. She was unhappy in her marriage, and planned to leave Jin and go to America.
WHAT HAPPENED AT THE HATCH?
In the season 2 finale, Locke, Mr. Eko (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) and Desmond (Henry Ian Cusick) were all in the hatch when Desmond turned the fail-safe key to diffuse whatever electromagnetic energy was quaking the island (yes, that button-pushing chore actually meant something). An explosion ensued. The hatch door landed on the beach. Survival seems like a long shot but Eko and Locke are under contract. And Cusick is now a series regular. They gotta come out of this alive, if not somewhat somehow changed. Plus, ABC says Locke will team up with Sayid (Naveen Andrews) and others to try and rescue their comrades.
DID MICHAEL AND WALT ESCAPE?
The father-son duo, given a motor boat by Henry Gale, were last seen fleeing the island to destinations unknown. Desperate dad Michael (Harold Perrineau) betrayed his friends to save himself and his son, Walt (Malcolm David Kelley), who was kidnapped at the end of the first season by the Others. But don't be surprised if they return those "Lost"-ies aren't the luckiest group. Note that Perrineau is not a regular cast member this season, but could be back as a guest star. And Walt is way too intriguing to make a permanent getaway.
WHAT IS DHARMA DOING WITH THE KIDS?
The Others snatched Walt, Frenchwoman Rousseau's daughter, Alex, and a very pregnant Claire (Emilie de Ravin). In memories of her abduction, Claire was taken to a hospital-like hatch and given a shot in the belly. A teen girl, who might be a grown-up Alex, warned her that higher-ups planned to kill her and take her baby. That's pretty freaky, and so is another theory: That the Others those "good guys," remember? are a social utopian experiment by the scientist-led Dharma Initiative. This could explain why they steal innocent children who haven't been tainted by society.
WHO IS LIBBY?
Michael shot and killed her last season, but viewers haven't seen the last of Libby (Cynthia Watros). She'll keep appearing in characters' flashbacks, producers said, yet her back story she claimed to be a clinical psychologist and was supposedly among the plane's tail-section survivors is shrouded in mystery. In flashbacks, it was revealed that she lived in the same mental hospital as an unknowing Hurley (Jorge Garcia) and gave Desmond her late husband's doomed sailboat. Fan speculation has it that she might be a member of the Hanso Foundation, which funded the shady Dharma Initiative, or a private detective.
IS CLAIRE JACK'S HALF-SISTER?
That's the buzz and it appears to be so. After losing his medical license for operating while drunk, Christian (Jack's surgeon-father, played by John Terry) fled to Australia, where he drank himself to death after attempting to visit his secret daughter. It went down like this: He showed up at the house of a curly-haired, blonde Aussie Claire's lookalike mother? and boozily demanded to see the girl. The woman refused. Jack arrived Down Under to bring Christian's body back to the U.S. and, in a made-for-television twist, wound up on the same ill-fated flight as Claire.
CAN THE SHOW KEEP IT UP?
As many fans complain, "Lost" is more about the questions than the answers. It's confusing and captivating. At least some things were (sorta) cleared up in the finale of the dark and hatch-centric second season, which runneth over with sci-fi mysteries that had viewers scratching their heads. Thankfully, the Powers That Be heard the fan feedback and they're doing something about it. In a recent podcast posted on the show's Web site, a producer revealed he was influenced by complaints that season 2 was "too mythologically dense." Expect to see a lot about relationships in future episodes, including a dose of much-needed romance.

I give it a 5 out of 10.
Jack has gone from being one of my favorite television characters (in season 1) to being very whiny and annoying. It is interesting that Michael Keaton was supposedly the choice to play Dr. Jack Shepard when Lost was being kicked around as a television movie, rather than series. I can't tell if the character is supposed to be the way he is or if Matthew Fox just can't pull off tough, but tortured well.
Sawyer, on the other hand, is a great character and the actor that plays him has done a great job of improving and getting things right.
Two questions:
Where have I seen the girl that was in all of Jack's scenes tonight?
What Stephen King book was the book club reviewing?

Did Kate get raped?
That was definitely my first thought. Either that or that she got impregnated some other way, since they seem to be fixated on children.
I hope we find out why Jack, Kate, and Sawyer were chosen to go there. Were they the only ones who were there when they had the confrontation last season about crossing the line, when the guy was wearing the fake beard and Kate got captured? I think all three were there, but I think Locke may have been, too.

Yeah, Locke was there.
I think I remember the leader of "the others", i think they said hes name was Roy, but I'm pretty sure he told Locke that he was one of the "good guys" when they had him captured last season, although I may be mistaken. This may have something to do with why Locke wasn't taken also.

I liked the fact that they explained where the polar bears came from... "The bears figured it out in 2 hours".. It seems to me, with the fish, aquarium and stuff and the polar bears, the Darwin intiative may have something to do with animal vs. human testing.. or possibly DNA combining of the two? Create humans with animal abilities? They are definitely trying to garner trust with each individual in individual ways. Did anyone else think the kid escaping way to contrived to be real?
I read an article in USA Today as well where they interviewed the guy who's the leader of the others and he said to remember what he said during teh finale "we're the good guys". He said they wanted to take a look this year at what the world looks like from "The Others" perspective and drawing a relation to the real world where people automatically think people that they don't understand are dangerous and evil. All the Others are signed only through the November "break" as well..

The whole thing looked like a set-up from the beginning...from the kid that wouldn't talk to Sawyer, to the magical lock picking and escape. Was that kid the one who was working on Juliette's house?

I assumed the Stephen King book was The Stand since the producers often refer to it as one of the biggest inspiriations for the show. Also I think the guy complaining about it in the beginning refered to it as something like pseuedo-religious battle between good and evil which would fit. It looked a bit too thin when they showed her holding it though.
Drawing of the Three would also make some sense though.

One of the biggest points of interest in season 1 was the dynamic between Jack-Sawyer-Kate and who would Kate end up with? At this point, I don't think I'll waste any more brainpower trying to figure anything about this show out. It's fairly obvious that TPTB are not going to reveal any solid answers to their show. I look at it as if if they do, the house of cards they have built will fall down because either the answers they give will not make any sense or the answers will contradict something either earlier or later in the show. There are still questions from Season 1 that haven't been answered and even when a question is answered it's not. For instance, we wondered why a polar bear would be on the island early in the first season. In the third season we found out the "answer" by finding out there are cages that they used to be in...but that's not an answer. It just raises more questions.
I'm just along for the ride and find it enjoyable if you don't try to figure out the show. If you do, I think you'll eventually become frustrated and disillusioned.

The bears and sharks are part of some type of animal experiments on the island, that answers the question as to why they were there. As for it not being a complete answer because they haven't explained why they were running these experiments... well if they answered that the BIG question would be gone. Why is Dharma on the island and conducting these experiments?
I agree that there are a lot of questions surrounding the show, but IMO people tend to over blow the problems they apparently create.

True. Already I don't understand how the separate groups of survivors from the plane crash couldn't see the smoke trails from the other section.
Sayid kind of explained that this past episode where he said maybe they couldn't see the smoke because of the mountains?
.nor do I understand how the island can have a village that remains hidden from everyone (including the French Lady who supposedly has spent years there).
How do you know the french lady doesn't know? Maybe she was outcasted? Maybe that smoke thing is some sort of security that if you get close to that village, it scares you away.

Maybe, but we don't know for sure. That's what's frustrating.
But does the frustration keep you watching? If they gave you the answers right after season 1, it would just be a boring plane crash, sci-fi tv series.
I compare it to that movie memento in some ways. If that movie was filmed in the correct order, it would've been just another typical movie. The out of sequence made it so much better, kept you wondering WTF was going on.
I think HA mentioned in another thread about how many shows are using the "Lost formula", which seems to be pretty intriguing and keeps viewers hooked.

Frustrating doesn't keep me watching. The fact that there's nothing else on that I want to watch keeps me watching. Maybe if there were some concrete answers it wouldn't be frustrating but it seems as if the writers are just making it up as they go along. Has anything really been answered? Not only that but the dangling plotlines are beginning to mount.
Other than the polar bear, what's up with the hatch? We know what's inside but we don't know why it's there. Don't you get the feeling as if we will never know why? That's where the frustration lies.
Again, at this point I'm willing to let it all go and just enjoy the story. This isn't to say that I didn't enjoy the last episode; I did since it was better than anything else that was on at the time. I'm tired of Jack and his BS (also what's up with his dad...never answered). Sawyer is the best thing going on the show. Hey, what happened to Walt and Michael?

Sorry, I didn't mean frustrating keeps you watching, I meant anticipation of finding out the answers.
Things have been pieced together slowly, but I can see what you mean by the writers "painting themselves into a corner" in terms of all of these quesions and little answers. Do you think that they have created so many questions that they will force the answers in one series ending cheesy episode? I hope not.

1. Lazy and don't want to reveal anything.
2. Have no idea how to resolve some storylines so if they add more questions we'll forget about the old questions.
3. There is some plan that they want to achieve and keep viewers coming back for more by revealing a little at a time while letting the questions mount.
In any of the scenarios, they are not good for the viewer. In #1 and #2, they're inept. In #3 they treat the viewer like a mark.

Which hatch? Desmond's? We already know it was there because of the magnet, I thought they explained that pretty well. What we don't know in regards to the hatch is how Locke and Eko survived the blast.
At least this episode we now know who got Sun pregnant.
Didn't we know before? It has to be Jin, and it can't be the bald guy. They've been on the island for 69 days, she found out she was pregnant probably about two weeks prior to last night's events. She has to have had her period on the island, so Jin must be the father.

Okay. Either I didn't explain myself well (which is a good possibility) or you didn't understand what I was saying. They don't explain anything well at all.
Question: Why is there a hatch there?
Answer: Because of the magnet.*
Question: Why is there a magnet there?
You see, the answer didn't answer the question "pretty well". It answered it with another question.
*Or so we think. Did the magnet bring the jet down? Why was Ben not surprised at the crash? Did he know it was going to happen or did something else bring the jet down? Also, we think the hatch was there because of the magnet. The Question Mark on the map indicated that all of the other hatches were used to monitor the people inside...they didn't actually serve any other purpose. Why would the hatch that Locke found be any different?

Slow episode last night with the best part being the kiss between Sawyer and Kate and the ensuing fight. Is it just me or is Kate pretty much useless? She's been the "helpless captive with a gun pointed to her head" at least twice now...once with Zeke last season and now with Juliette.
and she tries to play the tough role too, which pisses me off cuz she always seems to be a liability to the group since she finds herself being used as a hostage all the time.

No it didn't, they've already said AFAIK that it was a geological anomaly or something like that. Dharma didn't put the magnet there, they just put the hatch/button there to control it.
*Or so we think. Did the magnet bring the jet down?
As far as we know, yes.
Why was Ben not surprised at the crash?
I don't think he was not surprised, I just think he seemed more controlled than the rest of the others because he's apparently the leader.
Did he know it was going to happen or did something else bring the jet down?
If he knew it was going to happen, I'm pretty sure they would have been ready for it... instead of throwing together a plan on the spot.
Also, we think the hatch was there because of the magnet. The Question Mark on the map indicated that all of the other hatches were used to monitor the people inside...they didn't actually serve any other purpose. Why would the hatch that Locke found be any different?
I'm not really sure what you mean by all that. The Pearl hatch, the one with the TV's, was an experiment to see if people would follow directions just because they were told to. It's pretty clear that Desmond's hatch served a purpose.

Overall I thought it was a weak episode. I liked the backstory with Sun and Jin, but what the heck was going on with making Sawyer and Kate (in a dress) do manual labor? I mean is that why they took them from the rest of the group, so they could move rocks from one spot five feet away to another? And shame on them for not thinking their jail conversation would be overheard based on what they have found on the island so far.

My feeling is that they are trying to get Kate and Sawyer to hook up for some reason. When she had breakfast with Ben she asked about Sawyer before Jack, thus they brought Kate to Sawyer. They put her in a dress, make her get all sweaty and bend over and stuff and Sawyer gets turned on.
Maybe they did know that their conversation would be overheard? We're not certain at this point who's playing who.
My guess as well is tha Rosseau's daughter isn't as "good" as she seems and will end up being the bad guy, while the Others will end up being good guys.

I don't think you can make that leap. She could be three months pregnant and not show much. Its possible the experience of the bald guy dying (which was traumatic for both Jin and Sun) was what led to them taking the vacation so they left shortly after he died. That would fit pretty well with the timeline. Also there are many, many women who have irregular periods so its entirely plausible that she didn't have a period for three months and didn't consider it abnormal.

My point wasn't that she isn't showing... it's that she didn't notice she was pregnant until being there more than a month and a half. Let's say she became pregnant the day after her last period, and the day before she left on the trip... do you not find it strange that she waited more than a month and a half to find a pregnancy test?

You're right... I just think that explaining the would be some what awkward for the writers. It's a lot more likely that the baby is Sun's and that his problem off the island was fixed like it was for Rose & Locke... that runs with the story line, an irregular period does not.
These back stories about Sun and the bald guy are just showing us their relationship off the island and how Jin's job was hurting that marriage... it's not about proving to us that Jin isn't the father/

Now the thing I don't get and seems to be a little inconsistent especially with that scene, is that, if these people live in a perfect little "1950's village", why are they chaining their children up and marching them through the woods?

There was resolution. That back story was to show that Locke screws up a lot, the he has to clean up his messes, and that he's not a killer (he's one of the good one's remember). The back story wasn't in there to tell the story of a marijuana farm and how it gets busted.

That was a dream sequence, none of those things happened. If you looked closer you would have seen Hugo as a ticket agent typing in the numbers, Claire & Charlie playing with the baby, and Desmond as a pilot.

Raiders is correct - there really wasn't any resolution to Locke's backstory this past episode. all it did was just show that Locke has had occurences of messing things up and for once he decided to make things right.

The good news for "Lost" fans: ABC has listened to you, and has scheduled the show in such a way for next season that it won't have any reruns.
The bad news: There will be a 13-week gap between the show's first run of episodes in the fall and the unbroken 15- or 16-episode string to close the 2006-07 season.

I also think the two mini-seasons style schedule will be better than the 3 weeks on 2 weeks off mix and match of the first two years.
It is no surprise that people are complaining about it, though. I think most of that is frustration with the episodes not being as good since the first season for the most part.

It's not really a question of even good. It's that it's getting boring being presented with only unexplained things with very little in the way of payoff.
Maybe it's just the pacing of the story that wears thin to me now that the novelty of the characters has worn off.

The second one is hardly a mini season. Its 17 straight weeks of new episodes. If they lose viewers from the first of those to the last, they are in real trouble.

you know, when this thing started I really thought it was going to be about survival. 50 strangers stranded on an island, having to find food, water, shelter, organization, how to get rescued...all the while worried about some mysterious menace in the jungle. And that would have been, imo, a really interesting show - follow these people as they learn to survive and get along, all the while slowing unveiling the backstories to show where they were all coming from.
All of those aspects have been almost completely thrown out the window. Food now just literally falls from the sky. The people are seemingly so happy with their tarp & stick homes that no one even thinks about moving into the hatch, complete with electricity and running water. The monster that terrorized them every time they stepped foot in the jungle in season one is a mere afterthought.
Slowly, mostly with the introduction of the Others, it's turned into a completely different show - much more a sci-fi mystery than survival drama. I still enjoy it and watch every week, but I am a little bit peeved that it's no longer the show I signed up for.

That's interesting. You and I have had pretty much the same feelings about the show since it began, but it seems like we "signed up" for very different shows.
I didn't start watching "Lost" until after the first season, because I was overseas. All my friends back home kept telling me how great it was, so I borrowed some VCR tapes (last ones I've ever watched now that I think of it) and watched the show over the summer. My friends, being the geeks that they are, kept telling me about how the show looked like an island survival show, but really had all these cool sci-fi/mystical/mysterious aspects to it. That's what they loved about it and that's what I was excited about as well. I don't think I would have been all that interested in Swiss-Family Robinson/Robinson Caruso type of show. I love the sci-fi/fantasy elements of the show. The ghosts, the "monster, the crazy-ass polar bears, etc, etc.
If anything, I sort of feel like a lot those mysteries aren't all that, well, mystical anymore. The show has focused a lot more on the "others" and the whole Darma thing, which, in my mind, has dampened the mystical aspect of things to a certain degree. Like someone mentioned earlier in the thread, if it was just a electro-magnetic malfunction that brought the plane down than why are all the people so inter-connected? It now seems more like "random chance" than a mystical/Fate sort of thing.

It's certainly still an enjoyable show, but it has relatively fallen off the map in terms of ratings. I was really looking forward to this new season but the pace has been almost unbearably slow at this point. If memory serves this happened to me before in a previous season (recall the episode where Sawyer goes looking for the insect/bird noise with Hurley?)...but the show picked back up. Let's hope that happens again.
For goodness sakes "Criminal Minds" beat it in the ratings last week and I didn't even know that show was still on the air.

At the end of season 2 the three were on a dock and had their heads covered with bags. Presumably being on a dock they were being taken somewhere by boat. They likely wouldn't have been able to tell where they were being taken and it isn't likely they'd have reason to believe they were taken to another nearby island.

I could go to florida, and (if it was possible) look and see Cuba, would that mean that the land mass I am currently on is a small island too? Other than taking Benry's word for it that the island they were on is about the size of Alcatraz, is it possible that were actually on a continent, just at the far edge of it looking at an island in an archipelago?

I forgot about the whole deal with drugs, etc. in Ecko's backstory
Who the hell are the guy and chick? I remember the guy from last episode with the golf clubs...I think.
Didn't Ecko stare down the smoke before?
For the most part, I felt as if I didn't really care what was going on with Ecko up until the end. Likewise Locke, Charlie, Hurley and the couple (do they have names?).
The only truly interesting part I liked was when the chick was talking to Jack while the video played...other than that meh. Anyhow, at least there's only one more episode and it has more Sawyer.
What's frustrating is that we've seen every episode but I struggle to understand what's going on and what happened in someone's backstory over a season ago. That was a split decision episode for me.
There were a few scenes that reminded me why I watch and have enjoyed the show, like the dialogue between Ben and Jack, the church fight in Echo's flashback, the eye patch guy scene, and the video that was played for Jack.
I didn't like the unceremonious death. And, most of all, I cannot tell if the writing is just not that good anymore or if they are just being too vague because they want to leave all options open for future storylines. I am fairly frustrated, as an invested viewer, at how unclear the purpose of death was.

The smoke thing always brings me back to the theory that they are in purgatory, although most likely not true. Once you confess your sins to it, you are freed from purgatory (killed). But does that mean Locke has no sins to confess because he was wronged in his life? Also, the smoke monster killed the Pilot in season 1 without any "revelation" besides him screaming.
As I ramble on, I wonder if the smoke monster is some sort of paranormal thing that was created, that knows all of your fears and sins, and you can either constantly run in fear without facing them, or Stand up to your fears and confess your sins?

This episode really struck a good balance in my mind. We had the straight up man-against-man mystery of the Others with Jack's dilemna and then the reappearance of the smoke monster was a good touch of the paranormal to get us all thinking again. Another good touch were Ecko's hallucinations, which left us with just enough questions on whether he was really simply seeing things or not, particularly the part at the end.
I liked the whole Resurrection theme with Ecko's brother, anyone else catch that? They move the heavy rocks of his "tomb" and he's vanished.

my wife pointed that out to me. I, of course, was happily oblivious

I don't get the whole smoke monster thing. Seems like a very weak way to kill someone off.
Should of had an anvil fall on his head or something.

To be fair, the monster has only killed Ecko and the pilot, correct? And even then, as far as we know only Locke and Ecko have seen it. Shannon, Boone, Ana Lucia, Libby, Aerst, and whoever else I'm missing never really got to meet the monster and confess their sins. I think it was generally assumed that they had come to peace with their lives by the time they died, but they never really got to the face of the monster to be judged.

Didn't Jack, Kate and Hurley get to see the monster when they had to save Locke on the way back with the dynamite?

Finally got around to watching the latest ep. I wonder why Desmond did not save Eko like he did with Claire by building the lightning rod. Is there anything to take from how the Others 'bury' their dead?
Isn't that when Locke drugged him?
Yes.
Charlie has also seen the monster when he was taking Eko to the plane(where Eko stared at the smoke monster).

The story behind last week death.
There was personal things going on with his life that made it hard for him to be in Hawaii and the producers accommodated his wishes.
But several sources that long before his personal tragedy, the 39 old actor had became an increasingly difficult presence on set, refusing to film scenes as scripted, insisting on rewrites and even demanding to be release from his contract. One source reveal that the actor went so far as to weigh in on others characters' story lines, alienating cast members, who made their displeasure known to the producers.

Patience is the key for all the answers on Lost.
Produce JJ Abrams recently said you have to watch for who the characters are, what they are going though, what their experience is. The air goes out of the balloon if you start to answer and understand too many things too quickly. If the answers are not earned, if the story is laid out too easily, you will lose the fun of the ongoing layers being peeled back. The answers (should be) presented when they are earned, not just because people want to know.

I would agree with that if they pull back the layers and it got closer to the core. Instead they peel back layers and then put more duct tape on it so it was thicker than before. I think people are frustrated because for every answer (or part answer) there are two or three more questions that are presented. I've honestly lost track of all of the "unanswered questions" that are out there. It's becoming too damn much to follow. I'm starting to just watch the show and quitting trying to figure everything out and it's becoming more enjoyable to me again.

How fun would the show be if they didn't add new mysteries and draw stuff out across seasons? Might as well watch CSI....

You are like my teacher friend who is has been quitting the NEA for the past 12 years. At first he made some valid points, then he was more of a griper but we still listened to him, the past several years we just roll our eyes at how bad everything is while he still continues to stick around.
We get it. You don't like the show. I have no idea why you still watch.
Actually thinking about this a little more since I question it myself a lot, I think that I watch the show in the hopes that the magic of Season 1 would be recaptured. Part of that magic was the little things they did like the numbers...speaking of which it seems as if they've all but disappeared even in the recent flashbacks. There were things to discuss that led to speculation...unfortunately, all it led to was speculation; there was nothing concrete. I miss those things.
Again, I watch the show in the hopes that things will start making sense and that there will be that Eureka! moment that we're all like "Ohhhhhhhhhhh...." Not only that, but I'm still curious to see how things turn out. It's just annoying that they have left dots unconnected from Season 1 and 2 (I think) in the hopes that the audience will forget about them.

They did that because a lot of people complained that last season the show had repeats, like every other show on network TV (24, being one of the only exceptions).

i've come up with the best solution for Lost. here goes.
Kill everyone. Every last person that was on the plane....except for two people. doesnt matter who, but to make it interesting, make it characters we didnt focus on too much, say Claire and someone else. Kill the rest, the biggest characters in a shocking season 3 finale.
Then, in the very last scene, once the others have assimilated the only 2 survivors, have a plane crash.
season 4 starts comepletely anew, with the exact same opening as season 1. new characters, only this time, we have a little more insight, and it could be more from the "others" persepective.
because if the show goes on the way it has, why bother. as it is, im routing for everyone to die at this point.

Since when is a full season just 22 episodes? WTF? IMO, that speaks to the writer's total lack of ideas as much as anything.
