How do FBs translate to RB in FOF 2k4? I just drafted a pretty beastly FB at 1(19) and I'm banking on him to carry the load in my offense.

I'd say he'd probably be a really good RB if he develops correctly. I've had good experiences with FB's as RB's.

I've had some success too. His size is just right for a RB, he could translate into a pretty good one IMO. Keep us updated!

First season I stuck with him for all 16 games despite poor production:

16 Starts, 132-406-1 Rushing; 15-113-2 Receiving; 1 Fumble.

His primary backup rushed for 114-422-3. Third Stringer picked up 50-214-2.

I will give him another shot this season... we ended up going 13-3 and lost in the SB despite our running woes and his rating are about what you'd expect--he's 57/91. I picked up a Center with solid run blocking in free agency, but for the most part we're going with a pretty poor offensive line geared towards pass blocking(Strict House rules*), so further struggles are anticipated.

*House Rules

Empty Cupboard(Cut all players after first season)
Can accept Computer Trades that pass Fairness Test(Add/Remove 7th rd pick, then re-offer), otherwise no trades.
May use the Franchise Tag to resign one player each year, otherwise No Renegotiations
Can sign only 1 veteran FA in 20-step period and he mustn't have been drafted before 2005.
Can sign players to their asking price or to a contract where the bonus >= the biggest year.
Can only sign undrafted rookies after 20-step FA.

That endurance looks problematic to me.

Did you convert him to RB or just playing him at RB1?

Just playing him at RB1. Should I convert him?

I think he will most likely play better if you convert him, if there's not a major reduction in skills.

Change Position button claims 42% skill loss if I change him, so I think that's a no go.

2009 Update(14-2 Season):

14 GP, 9 GS: 126-499-2 Rushing 36-355-4 Receiving with 2 fumbles. 0 for 3 Run Blocks.

8 Starts at FB1(and RB2 on depth chart), 1 at RB1. In his lone start at RB1 he was 17-51-0 so I took him out and put in the more productive backup player who ended up with a 4.6 Y/C on the season.

Time to give up on this guy at RB1 unless I get decimated at RB?

I learned my lesson in MP about converting guys who take a big % hit. Don't do it! :)

What i did when i had an FB like that was to keep him as FB but raising the FB carries to the max (40) in all the gamemplan screens and also in the personal screens i set him as RB in the single back formations. He had nice rushing numbers and ended being the #1 FB in the season.

You just hit "Change Position" and it tells you on the confirmation popup.

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again...

2014 Numbers at RB1:

179-921-2 Rushing (5.14 Y/C)
67-606-5 Receiving (9.0 Y/C)

I think Pinto succeeded because I have invested a lot of money and draft picks in the offensive line and they are now balanced run/pass blockers across the board. Dawkins(my former FB@RB1 experiment) is rated as the best FB in the league, although he's now with Green Bay where he continues to put up anemic numbers in the running game(Though he's been very successful at blocking and receiving).

I've been starting another FB at TE for 8 years now and he's been wildly successful:

I have another FB starting at... FB. :) At one point earlier in this career I had 5 RBs starting at the 5 skill positions.
