Anyone plan on playing EQ for the PS2.

I plan on picking it up and hope I don’t “need” to play it 3 hours a night to get anywhere.

Anywho… Just wondering if any FOFC’ers plan on playing… maybe we can group up ;)

No, but it is funny you asked that because I am right now re-installing Ever-crack to start playing again. My friend who has been playing for three years told me the latest update has really improved the game, so I'm giving it a shot.

I got the last two expansions for Ever-Crack for X-Mass (my frineds got it for me so I start playing again) but I haven't even installed them. It just takes up waaaay to much time.

I hope I can play the PS2 version a little more casually.

I just re-started (again) and for some reason this time I found the sweet spot.

I started playing a Dwarven Cleric and just got him to level 14 last night. Took me about 10 hours of VERY casual gaming to get from 12-14. I think that's pretty fair. I was soloing 80% of the time, and I helped out a couple of lower level guys get some XP (although I did 80% of the work because we were fighting undead). I think that's how most people would play. Sure, I could have done it in 3-4 hours probably if I had a great group and was trying to become uber, but I want to take my time and explore everything that the game has to offer. There's so many zones & dungeons to explore, why do all your levelling in the same place? I want to see it all!

If you're playing a pet class you can actually be a viable soloer at the game, but most people need groups to get going. If you can spend a couple of hours at a time online then you can get into this game. I personally stay away from loading it if I only have 30-60 minutes since there is a good amount of setup time to get going.

And yes, the recent updates have tremendously improved the game. Interface is fixed IMO, and it seems to be a bit more "friendly" to play. Should be even better with the latest expansion pack which will add better LFG search functions, map tools, etc

Oh, and no I don't intend on playing the PS2 one, since I don't have that console.

I hear that it's more soloing friendly, but the level treadmill gets STEEP at the mid-high levels.

You'll need to buy the Logitech Netplay controller, gives you a controller / keyboard combo so you can actually talk to your fellow adventurers.

Anybody going to pick this up today?

Yes - this was a worthless bump

Well, I got it. So far the controls are taking a lot to get use to but so far I for sure can say it’s going to be a very addictive game. I got it at lunch and only played it for about 1 hour and I am already at level 4 ;)

I started a Halfing Rogue. You RGP players need to get this game if you own a PS2.

I have a level 56 cleric on the PC version after far too many hours of play. Lost interest as of late though, I don't have much fun playing the cleric anymore and I don't have the time or patience to get another character up to a similar level where all of my firends are. My wife is still addicted to it, she has a lvl 62 shaman. This is the first computer game she has shown any interest in.

The PS2 version looks like it may be more fun, but alas I don't have a PS2 yet. I'll have to wait until the next PC version of EQ comes out this fall.

I just picked this up today. Haven't had much of a chance to do anything though. Looks like it'll take time to get used to
