Mom accused of using infant to strike boyfriend
Monday, October 09, 2006
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
ERIE, Pa. -- A woman used her 4-week-old baby as a weapon during a domestic dispute, swinging the infant through the air and striking her boyfriend with the child, authorities said.
Chytoria Graham, 27, of Erie, remained in the Erie County Jail today, unable to post $75,000 bond on charges of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and simple assault.
"The baby was swung at the individual that she was arguing with," Erie District Judge Thomas Robie told the Erie Times-News for today's editions.
District Attorney Bradley Foulk said the child was critically injured in the incident about 3:30 a.m. yesterday. The infant, whose gender was not released, was flown by helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital.
"Never, never, never -- I can never remember anything like this," Mr. Foulk said.
It was not immediately clear if the man Ms. Graham allegedly attacked was the baby's father.
Authorities removed four other children from Graham's home and they were in the custody of the Erie County Office of Children and Youth.

That's a shame. The other Chytoria's I know are usually nice girls....
And this should be grounds for a forced sterilization, in addition to many years of jail plus loss of parental rights to her remaining children.

But she didn't mean to ...

The original story is plenty bad enough but there's a couple of things in this article that blow my mind just as much.
1) "Jarron, who was born Sept. 11, suffered a fractured skull and bleeding in the brain after the incident. The infant's head hit Deangelo, who had also fathered one of Graham's other four children. Deangelo told the Erie Times-News that Graham never meant to hurt their child."People are trying to make a big deal about it, but she did not do it on purpose. ... It was just a mistake," he said.
Motherfuckingshit ... it IS a "big deal" you brain dead sack of shit.
2) Authorities removed Graham's other children from the home. The Erie County Office of Children and Youth granted temporary custody to their maternal grandparents, Gloria Graham and Cornell Petty of Erie.
Obviously the right place to put the other children since they did such a bang-up job with Clamydia.

One of the most disturbing stories I have read in a while. Actually made me a bit physically ill to read (though I don't know what I expected based on the thread title).

Good point. I don't know all the ins and outs of family law, but this seems like a prime situation to keep the kids under the protection of the state until you can figure out where the horrible dysfunction in this family arose. I wouldn't let anyone associated with this woman near those kids until I was 100% sure they were not of the "I don't see why this is such a big deal" school.

I dunno, her sister Syphillis is a good moms.
Yeah, these kids need to go far far away from the family tree if they want a fair shot in life.

Pretty much the same story, with a few other items added in
http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06283/728730-85.stm
According to the affidavit, Ms. Graham told police she was out drinking Saturday night and early Sunday and began arguing with and shouting at Mr. Troop when she came home. During the dispute, she said, she threw several items at Mr. Troop before turning and grabbing baby Jarron from the bed and swinging him to hit Mr. Troop, the affidavit states.
Ms. Graham said she put the baby down, then fled after Mr. Troop punched her in the eye. Police said they found furniture knocked over and broken household goods in the apartment
I'd love to hear what NOW or any of those other organizations who love to quote DV stats would have to say about that...
