I was just wondering if anyone had ever run stats tests on the following..

* Overall run and pass averages against run and pass defenses.

My line of thinking is that I'm wondering if its possible to pidgeon hole one dimensional teams.

Perhaps it would be beneficial in calling aggressive run D all day against poor passing teams as they arn't good enough to take advantage? Vica versa with poor running teams.

Perhaps its worth staying in pass all day against great passing teams so not to give up the big play...

* Formations. In terms of run and pass average per attempt for each formation. Might be tough controlling but a big sample should give some indications.

Here I'm wondering are some formations just simply better than others.

For example the AI far prefers the standard I, to I with the WR moving to the slot. Is the former just a cross up tactic as its not as good as the normal I in general terms?

Cheers

Nick

These are league wide averages too, so take that with a grain of salt. For example, my team ran better for a number of games out of the Pro Formation than what is reflected here. Much of it depends on your personnel, etc.

This also doesn't take into account that (for example) 2 or 3 TE sets are more common in short yardage situations, where a 3-yard gain would be a good play, yet would take the overall average down.
