It looks like there is a new addition to the end of season "Senior Bowl" style games. It will be players with ties to Texas high schools or colleges vs. players with no Texas ties. Should be an interesting matchup. :D

Plans set for Texas vs. rest of nation bowl game

EL PASO, Texas -- Buddy Ryan and Mike Price have been named as coaches for a new postseason game that aims to find out if Texas college football players are better than guys from all other 49 states combined.

The Texas vs. the Nation all-star bowl game will pit all-stars from Texas colleges against players from the rest of the country. It will be held Feb. 2 at the Sun Bowl and will be televised live on CSTV.

Ryan, the former coach of the Philadelphia Eagles and Arizona Cardinals, will guide the national squad. Price, UTEP's coach, will lead the players from Texas teams.

Teams will consist of seniors ranked in the top 15 at their positions by the NFL.

The Texas squad will feature seniors with high school or collegiate ties to the state. The "nation" roster will be filled with players with no Texas ties.

How in the hell is this a fair matchup? Price isn't the greatest coach of all time by any stretch, but he could coach a group of junior high schoolers and beat a college group coached by Ryan. Maybe Ryan will punch a kid to make things interesting.

I thought these types of game were more prevalent. I know Florida and Georgia have played an all star high school game in the past. I vaguely remember a Florida vs USA college game.

I remember they did this for Cali-Texas High School All Star game. California won the first few years then Texas won a bunch in a row. Not sure if they do it or who is winning these days
