So, I'm at a convention for psychiatrists and I decided to stay where the meeting is being held figuring it would be a nice hotel. I thought the price was kind of cheap, but figured they were giving us a good group rate and that Shreveport probably doesn't have a lot of hotel visitors this time of year.

Well, I'm starting to think that I'm getting what I paid for:

First the positives:

The room is very spacious and the bed is comfortable - although this is my 2nd room since the first room had a messed up TV and I wanted to watch the Playoffs.

The mini-refrigerator in room gets cold drinks very cold.

The in room internet is very fast.

The Negatives:

The internet connection keeps dropping.

No Mini-Bar! This is supposed to be a top quality business hotel. You would think they have a mini-bar. I know they are a ripoff, but I don't feel like going anywhere and I do feel like a night cap.

One of my towels was dirty! No excuse for that.

Finally, the really gross moment....

I like to put the do not disturb sign in before bed. I don't have any meetings until 9:00 AM tomorrow and I've experienced housekeeping that doesn't know not to come in at 7:00 AM when I'm still sleeping. So, now I always put the do not disturb thingy in the door slot.

Well, I went to get my Do not disturb card, and it was stuck to the dresser. It wasn't glued there, it didn't look like soda that had it stuck. It looked like a glazed sticky fluid that had it sticking very firmly to the dresser. Now, my mind is really preoccupied with what other surprises I might find in this room. :(

I'm getting another room. Although I'm kind of worried what I might find in the new room.

Are they giving you a can of Lysol with the new room?

"What happens on Shreveport dressers stays on Shreveport dressers."

Response: "Sir, that dresser was spotless before you got there. BTW, your card bounced and we are stopping your TV from playing 'Wookie Hooker III: Hair Everywhere'."

I once found an empty box of chicken under the bed and a pair of used panties in the toilet of a hotel I was checking my girlfriend into. Compared to this, your hotel is sanitary. :D

Well, the internet didn't work for a while in the new room, but I talked to some tech person and the internet is now working well in the room after they reset something.

More importantly, the room is spotless, at least to the naked eye...

Of course, it is times like this that I wish I didn't know so much about microorganisms and microscopic cells. At least, it looks much cleaner than the other room.

EF,

Tip: Give a big fuss. No swearing or crazy antics.

What brand are you staying at? Also, how are the in-room "movies"?

It's a Clarion hotel. There are pornographic movies among others via pay per view.

I already gave a big fuss without swearing or crazy antics. That is how I got the new room. I just told them that I am an officer of the organization that was meeting (which is true, I'm the Early Career Rep on the executive council) and that I was going to make sure that all of our officers knew of my problems and that I would recommend we never book this hotel again if they didn't get me an acceptable room.

So yeah, the comforter in a hotel room. Proper self preservation is to immediately throw this thing on the floor, right? Surely they can't get washed daily?
