Okay i am looking for a WW2 game to play against my son. I am looking for a turn based game that can be played head to head or even by email. Doesnt have to be super detailed and wouldnt mind being able to play head to head over the internet. Not sure if there is such a thing out there but figured you guys would know.

Company of Heroes if you don't mind real time. An oldie but a goodie would be Combat Mission.

Combat Mission is turn based and can be played via email. Each side has a "turn" to set orders and then a minute of the battle plays out in front of you on the screen, at which point the next "turns" occur. What's really nice is the ability to replay what just happened and examine it from different angles and such, there seems to be plenty of detail.

Steel Panthers WAW is a great free game, and easy enough to get into

The Close Combat series is pretty good too.

Forgot about that one, that is a good one too. Big download from what I remember, but that's not as big of an issue with download speeds anymore.

People's Tactics is a good little free game, with scenarios not just for WWII but other wars as well.

Strategic Command 1 and 2 are also available, nice light strategic games.
