Falcons starting left guard Matt Lehr has been suspended for the next four games for violating the NFL's steroid policy, the team announced Tuesday.

Lehr, a five-year veteran from Virginia Tech, started 20 games since being acquired last season and has been known as one of the strongest players on the team.

Apparently Lions' defensive tackle Shaun Rogers has also been suspended for 4 games. Not sure for what yet, but likely along these lines. That's great for the Lions. He's only pretty much their best player.

Shaun Rogers suspended for four games
Detroit Lions tackle Shaun Rogers has been suspended for four games by the NFL for testing positive for a banned substance. Sources close to the situation say it was not an illegal drug.

The Lions have a bye week coming up next week, but that won't be a factor because Rogers must miss four games (without pay).

Rogers is not believed to be in the league's substance abuse program and this suspension does not necessarily mean he's been hit with a "third strike.'' Instead, as in previous cases with Jim Miller and Julius Peppers, a positive test for a banned substance (even an over-the-counter drug) results in an immediate suspension.

It's believed that Rogers tested positiveat some point early in training camp (all NFL players are tested within the first couple of weeks of camp). If that's the case, it's possible the banned substance was an ingredient in a weight-loss product. Rogers, who has been fined for being overweight in the past, might've been trying to get his weight down before reporting to camp.

Rogers has been limited in practice in recent weeks with a sore knee so the suspension will mean he should return at 100 percent in five weeks. However, the Lions defense will have to hang tough until that time because they've already lost tackle Shaun Cody (toe) for a couple of weeks.

Meet Casey Hampton, he'll be a member of the Falcons backfield this weekend.

I agree with you...but was Matt Lehr going to stop that from happening?
