Remember the brawl the other day that left Tenn St with only three players to finish their game with Eastern Kentucky? Well, TSU's athletic director suspended their coach because of that game and announced that she, not one of the assistant coaches, is going to coach their next game. Hmmm, interesting...

I hope she does a good job.

Aren't they 2-22? Plus they'll have players suspended. She can't do much worse.

Is it unusual for the AD to coach if the head coach is unavailable?

Is it true that France surrendered to Tenn St after hearing about the fight?

I thought it was kind of unusual. Maybe she wanted to have her name in the books? BUt, if they are 2-22, might as well give it a shot.

Well, she did previously coach the women's team and had modest success, but I think that she just saw a chance to get her name in the record books and took it. I mean, how many other times have you heard of an AD or GM coaching a team when the coach is suspended? It seems like one of the assistants should have taken over, unless the whole coaching staff was suspended (which seems doubtful since it wasn't mentioned in the article).

Well, Tenn St lost tonight, but they've only won two games all year, so I doubt this loss was because of her coaching.

Well, this was the school that Nolan Richardson III left b/c he brought a gun to an altercation -- the interim Heach Coach and an assistant were suspended for this game for the fight last game. Leaving one assistant coach who apparently has only one full year as an assistant under his belt. Supposedly the players liked her better than the other coaches.

I think this is one of those women lib stunts.

What else was she supposed to do?

Well, they lost. Good, now she can go back to her day job.

Given the mess the team seems to be in, chances are they would've still lost if they were coach yesterday by John Wooden with Pete Newell and Tex Winters.
