View Full Version : Icy's logo sets for FOF2007

Icy
10-27-2006, 06:19 AM
I have decided to start a new thread as I'm going to work on a few different logo sets and this way i can update this first post with my new logos as i work on them. Of course I admit sugestions.

INSTRUCTIONS:
To use them just download them and extract them using winzip or winrar into the folder where you have the original logos installed that by default should be: C:\Program Files\Solecismic Software\Front Office Football 2007\Pictures
When asked about overwriting the original ones answer YES. If you want to keep the original logos i recomend you creating a copy of the whole Pictures folder.

If you find any error like city names misspelling or any logo not appearing please let me know.

You can host or redistribute this logo sets but please credit me as author, it has been a good amount of work to have them ready for the release day.

Here are previews of the first logo sets:

INTERFACE GRAPHICS MODS

Here is how my game looks now, I have edited the following:

- Positions tags
- The current/future tags
- The exerience years tags.

Maybe not so pretty but the font is easier in the eyes at least for me:

http://www.prodeportes.com/fof2k7/bitmaps/bitmaptest4.jpg

- I have also added now my moddifed experience icons in the player card view to show the position plus the experience level. Here is one sample going from 1 to 100 in steps of 10, there other two variations using letters from A to J or numbers from 1 to 10. The three versions are at the end of this thread.

Top of the image is how it looks in the original, bottom is my modded one:

http://www.prodeportes.com/fof2k7/bitmaps/330/sample.jpg

You can download the bitmaps and patch the exe yourself with reshacker:

Resource 330: Experience % icons in player card

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR THIS VERSION: As there are only 10 different icon colors, i used steps of 10% but for example a player with experience displayed as 50, will have any number between 41 and 50, a player with experience displayed as 100, will have any number between 91 and 100% etc. Those are my asumptions, but it could be also that not all the steps are equal, so this is just a guide, not exact experience numbers as the colors ranges are not exact either and we don't know for sure which range represents each color. Use those experience numbers as guide only.
http://www.prodeportes.com/fof2k7/bitmaps/330/1033icy.bmp

Resource 300: Experience % icons with letters that are more abstract than numbers, J is the lowest value and A is the higher.

http://www.prodeportes.com/fof2k7/bitmaps/330/1033icy2.bmp

Resource 300 Experience % icons with numbers that represent just the 10 levels of experience, 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest.

GAME BACKGROUNDS:

I just remember i did this as a joke, but it's already useful when i'm playing with the notebook while watching TV without my wife telling me that i'm playing the whole day. I took an excel file screenshoot and used it as game background.

Does it look like a game? :D

http://www.prodeportes.com/fof2k7/excellook.jpg

The game background is the resource 328 in reshacker, you can use this as the excel background:

http://www.prodeportes.com/fof2k7/bitmaps/328/1033excel.bmp

If instead, you want a full black background, use this:

http://www.prodeportes.com/fof2k7/bitmaps/328/1033black.bmp

The black one is what i use as the default office one distracts me fom the game, i prefer all black background.

I like them both! Definately a lot of potential for logo sets here... Probably a little more desire for pre-defined "fake" worlds with full logo sets than before too.

It took me a while to figure out what was so different and how Jim managed so much more space in this version....then I figured out that the player cards are significantly larger. Duh.

A thing about them being so large...

If you look at Icy's samples in the other thread, I think there's a lot of potential for someone like Icy to make a template and a league like IHOF, CFL, and some others that have a fair amount of info in Madden could really improve their player cards.

In act, I wonder if there's any feasibility for automating splicing team logo + picture together? If nothing else I know that ct has used Uhh.. Paint Shop Pro I think it is.. to make like a macro where it automatically puts the images in the right spot when you copy and paste...

Great Job Icy. Do you have plans to make/edit any of the screens in the game?

I have been taking a look with reshacker at what can be edited. I could try to edit the positions, numbers and ratings as i don't like the new ones a lot, the position tags for example are a bit hard to read and the numbers for the ratings are a bit weird looking too (of course in my opinion). Will give it a shoot once i end with the logos.

One suggestion, due to franchise city moves:

Good idea, will work on one with nicknames only and not with the city name. Also if somebody has ideas for nicknames and logos for a fully fictional universe, i could give it a shoot.

You could go with the default fictional nicknames that ship with the game...

I'm about halfway through a version of the ratings fwiw, just cutting and pasting from the old ones and giving slight color tweaks to the various sets to match the new colors (the mask image seems good enough that I won't bother). I'll post when I'm done...whenever I can get my main computer back from the kids, who have commandeered it.

ICY,

I love it, how can I put this in the game?

You need to use a program named reshacker. There was a tutorial in the forums for 2004 but i can't find it now, try to search for it or you will need to wait until i edit also the positions tags and then i'll upload my moddified .exe with the changes already done. In the future maybe i'll write a small tutorial but now i'm looking into finishing this to start to play the game, i have been working on graphics all the time and have not even started a game yet.

Regarding reshacker:

One thing to keep in mind is that with FOF2K4, patches/updates were always complete overwrites of the entire download. I did a little checking, and he did two pretty significant patches within 3 weeks of the release of that game, the first one coming only 9 days after the release. I'd probably wait for a patch or two before going the reshacker route, to avoid having to do it all over again a short time later.

Icy

Ok, for those that don't know how to edit the .exe file with reshacker, here is mine already modded with the new positions tags and numerical tags.

To use it do the following:

- Make sure you don't have the game running.
- Go to the FOF2k7 folder (by default C:\Program Files\Solecismic Software\Front Office Football 2007).
- Rename your FrFoot2007.exe to FrFoot2007.old (this is just to backup the original).
- Unzip the content of my zip file in that location (by default C:\Program Files\Solecismic Software\Front Office Football 2007)

Launch the game, you should see the changes.

Depends on what you want edited. So far I've avoided modifying the binary files for three reasons:

If I screw it up, Jim gets support calls, not me. That's not fair to him in any way, shape, or form.
I've done my best to avoid having anything to do with player ratings for cheating reasons.
I've got enough other work to do.The closest I've been tempted to do with this was a stadium editor for levelling the economic playing field in multiplayer leagues, but then Jim added that feature to 2k7 ;)

Anything that makes me update the binary data, no matter how simple, falls under what I said. There really needs to be a VERY good reason before I muck with it. A name editor doesn't fall afoul of my #2 reason above (that was specific to Icy's request), but reasons #1 and #3 still apply. Reason #1 is enough to make me extremely unlikely to ever want to touch the binary data.

Yeah, me too.

Just a quick note for everyone who is going to edit these:
-300: ratings
-303: positions tags
-323: years of experience

303 doesn't exist in my version of the executable. Do you mean 302?

Edited positions now too. Changed the font and also the QB colour to a more red one to better difference it from the RB's.

I'm finding the black-on-red QB one to be a bit hard to read (can't focus on the text well). With a red that red, maybe change the "QB" to white?

Oh yeah, expect the beta of my auto-patcher tonight ;)

Any chance you (or someone) could take a crack at the position tags using the same color scheme from 2004? The font is an issue to me, but so is the pastel color scheme... everything looks so close to each other to me, I thought things were very clear in 2004.

DOWNLOAD IT HERE (http://www.prodeportes.com/fof2k7/bitmaps/icy_exemod.zip)

Here is how it will look, scout view:

I followed this and it worked. However the depth chart (bars window) does not appear for individual players (pre 6.0). Is this some how erasing the 6.0 patch? Also everytime I open the game I get a security box asking if I want to Run this. Any idea?

Added the moddified experience icons in the players card to show now both position and % of experience in steps of 10%. As there are only 10 different icon colors, i used steps of 10% but for example a player with experience displayed as 50, will have any number between 41 and 50, a player with experience displayed as 100, will have any number between 91 and 100% etc. Those are my asumptions, but it could be also that not all the steps are equal, so this is just a guide, not exact experience numbers as the colors ranges are not exact either and we don't know for sure which range represents each color.

The top of this image are the originals and the bottom my modded ones.

I know I'm being anal about this and it's annoying, but...

What if you made it 1-10 instead of the 10-100? That way it's more of a ranking than %? Part of why I say this is I BELIEVE in 6.0 and 6.0a some colors were thicker than others (unfortunately I already updates so I can't check)..

So then it would be a straight ranking, rather than seeming to represent the "true" numbers?

I thought on it too, but then it could be mixed with experience years, you never know how we humans can confuse things. Also i doubt there are a lot of differences between a guy developed 42% and 49%, if you think on it this is like scouting error margin too.

I have edited my post before to explain that are ranges to avoid people confused about it.

I'm not sure you're getting my point still...

A player with 50 having somewhere between 41-50... we don't know that. You're making a conjecture about how the colors work.

I'm hoping someone sees this before loading the patch, because I remember it being that some colors were "thicker" so that say purple represents 0-5, dark blue 5-10, and light blue 10-30...

I'm not SURE about this though.

Hehe, wait a minute, more changes now:

As some members are not too sold on the 10% steps, i have created other 2 versions of the experience icons in the player card:

One with letters that are more abstract than numbers, J is the lowest value and A is the higher.

http://www.prodeportes.com/fof2k7/bitmaps/330/1033icy2.bmp

And another with numbers that represent just the 10 levels of experience, 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest.

Does it look like a game? :D

http://www.prodeportes.com/fof2k7/excellook.jpg

The game background is the resource 328 in reshacker, you can use this as the excel background:

http://www.prodeportes.com/fof2k7/bitmaps/328/1033excel.bmp

If instead, you want a full black background, use this:

The black one is what i use as the default office one distracts me fom the game, i prefer all black background.

Icy, just a suggestion on the 1-10 ratings. If you move the position and number a hair toward the center and add a bit of white to the edge of the colors, it breaks up the ratings so they don't run together and makes it much easier to read. For example:

with space (see between FL and SE):

A general comment for me: most of these are pretty good, but to be great you need to check the contrast between the text and backgrounds. Black does not read well against some of the darker colors. See my earlier example on the position edits (black QB text on dark red hard to read), and it's similar on these experience charts. I know you don't have a lot of options with the way the bitmap is put together, but maybe lighten up the darker purple and red backgrounds?

Thanks for making the positional tags with numbers 1-10. It means I no longer have to decipher the colors to determine if a light blue player is more developed than a light purple player, I can just see that 3 is bigger than 1.

Thanks again!

Sure...I generally take some hapless franchise and after the locals refuse to fully fund my $700M stadium, move the show to my beloved Los Angeles...but I'm not a big fan of the bleak, uninteresting "Los Angeles" that defaults in...

So, a fictional one, an LA Raiders or Rams one, I don't really care - whatever suits your fancy. I just want some sort of upgrade. :)

Download the picture from this thread, and use it to replace the old one using Reshacker.

You're probably better off to use gstelmack's utility to put the resources in that you want. It is available in the download sticky.

I just had a little fun altering a few of Icy's helmet banners to change them to throwbacks (Detroit, Denver, Atlanta) and a couple to alter the logo (Chicago has the bear head & Cleveland has that pointy-eared guy instead of a second helmet) They aren't as perfect as Icy's, but they look pretty good considering how little I actually know about photoshop!

edit: I got it figured out... Here they are.

Resource 300: Current and potentials

Resource 330: Experience % icons in player card

Resource 300: Experience % icons with letters that are more abstract than numbers, J is the lowest value and A is the higher.

Resource 300 Experience % icons with numbers that represent just the 10 levels of experience, 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest.

Should the last two Resource 300 actually be Resource 330?

Decided to throw in my own designs for the Team Logos. Using the E2G Logo Template from a forum member in Sortitoutsi.net "enzoli", so full credit goes to him.

LOVE these logos, Nugget699! Any chance of getting the classic Atlanta Falcon logo done with this treatment? Pretty please! :)

Since you offered, can we get an old-school Oilers logo? I've always hated the Texan's name. :)

How do I get the new icons? What's reshacker? Sorry if I sound a little new, well... that's just because I am. I've had this game for nearly a week now, and I'm still confused with some things. Thanks.

Welcome to FOFC and I hope you are enjoying the game.

You can get reshacker here (http://angusj.com/resourcehacker/)

You can do a search and find out which ones to change or just go through once you have the exe opened in reshacker. It isn't too bad to use. :)

Icy -

I noticed that there are two diff posts with the modded exe link, are they the same?

I have downloaded the first, the colors have changed but:

1) The position rating (for changing positions) is not included, is it in the other exe?

2) During the draft, the red, green, blue number ratings have disappeared, is this correct, or did I do something wrong.

Thanks for your hard work

Umm I guess that exe is so outdated (i think i had the link removed long time ago). I recommend you to install the game again and instead of downloading any exe, to use the tool that gstelmack created to apply the mods directly:

StelmackSoft FOF2k7 Utility Suite - Front Office Football Central (http://www.operationsports.com/fofc/showthread.php?t=54227)

Hi all, does anyone still have Icy's logo sets? The links in this thread and in the "resources" thread all seem to be dead. I really liked his stadium logos and I thought I had a copy backed up, but I can no longer seem to find it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
