That's weird that a group called Cnadypants would put out an album called Candypants.

well since I am sitting at my computer, the five closest CDs are all computer software.

My Web Cam driver, an old copy of Lords of the Realm II, Madden 2003, Civ 3, and the drivers for my modem.

Not very exciting

Hmm, my CD case is in my bag ... lemme look. The 5 closest to my ears are:

Bruce Springsteen: The Rising
Phil Collins: Testify
Queen: The Platinum Collection (Greatest Hits Vols 1,2, & 3)

If you want to count Queen's as only 1, then I also have:

The Wallflowers: Bringing Down the Horse
The Wallflowers: Breach

Noop or anyone else - Is the 50 Cent CD any good? I like In the Club and Wanksta, but is the rest of the CD up to par? I hardly ever buy CD's because a lot of it is crap, but I do like 50 Cent's style.

Kinda funny that I listen to rap considering I'm white and Asian-American and am the President of my high school's Young Republicans. People are always surprised that I listen to rap when they get rides for the first time. Then again, I also have two radio stations preset to country, so I guess I'm all over the place.

I pretty much only listen to classic rock and older pop (before pop was Britney and the Backdoor Boys). I do listen to some "newer" rock, but I almost never listen to the radio (other than the classic rock station), so I don't really hear a lot of it. I liked some older rap (LL Cool J, Young MC, Run DMC, Rob Base and DJ Easy Rock), but I lost interest when "gangsta" rap became popular.

Just FYI, the other CDs in my case are:
The Wallflowers: Red Letter Days
Billy Joel: The Essential Billy Joel
Elton John: Greatest Hits 1970-2002
a mix of three Smash Mouth CDs
Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers: The Last DJ
Trans-Siberian Orchestra: Beethoven's Last Night
my "Where the Hell Are We?" mix, including songs from G'N'R, U2, ZZ Top, Weird Al, Lynyrd Skynryd and others

I thought Both Sides was a good album, but Dance Into the Light wasn't all that great ("bad" Phil is still pretty good for me). I'll just ignore Tarzan. IMHO, Testify is much better than any of them, although it would be hard to approach But Seriously ... that album is full of awesome songs.

Testify is a good mix of songs. "Come With Me" is a really good mellow song that I find myself replaying a few times in a row. "This Love This Heart" is a good song where Phil starts off singing pretty softly, then gets progressively louder. "Driving Me Crazy" could probably be turned into a techno/dance song. "The Least You Can Do" was composed with Daryl Streumer, and almost seems like an "anti-power ballad". "Can't Stop Loving You" is a drum-heavy song I often replay a few times.

All in all, I can give it two big compliments: Every song is good, and I can listen to the whole CD a few times in a row without getting sick of it.

edit: Go to bestbuy.com and you can listen to 30 second samples ... not the best quality sound, but you'll get the idea.

The Mamas & The Papas - All The Leaves Are Brown
Talking Heads - Speaking In Tongues
Fleetwood Mac - Rumours
An ABBA mix CD I made
Sly & The Family Stone - Greatest Hits

Hmm ... on second thought there's an odd and decidedly unintentional pattern running through these CDs, that I'll leave for you to figure out.

dola....

Shorty, I saw Dashboard Confessional Unplugged on MTV, and it was the first time I have ever heard of them. I turned the channel pretty quick though, they sounded like Church group music. Like if a church group went on a camping trip and were all sitting around the campfire drinking hot cocoa with mini-mallows, they would be singing these songs.

Easy Mac

Dashboard's all right, a little to pretty, and their songs a little too emo, definitely trying to slide teenage girls towards "light punk". They're decent though.

Get Rich or Die Tryin' is really good. There are 19 tracks on it (if you include the 3 bonus tracks) and I wouldn't classify any of them as filler. It starts really strong with the awesome "What up Gangsta?" and a collaboration with Eminem ("Patiently Waiting") and just continues strong the whole way through.

I was walking across a bridge one day, and I saw a man standing on the edge, about to jump off. So I ran over and said "Stop! don't do it!" "Why shouldn't I?" he said. I said, "Well, there's so much to live for!" He said, "Like what?" I said, "Well...are you religious or atheist?" He said, "Religious." I said, "Me too! Are you christian or buddhist?" He said, "Christian." I said, "Me too! Are you catholic or protestant?" He said, "Protestant." I said, "Me too! Are you episcopalian or baptist?" He said, "Baptist!" I said,"Wow! Me too! Are you baptist church of god or baptist church of the lord?" He said, "Baptist church of god!" I said, "Me too! Are you original baptist church of god, or are you reformed baptist church of god?" He said,"Reformed Baptist church of god!" I said, "Me too! Are you reformed baptist church of god, reformation of 1879, or reformed baptist church of god, reformation of 1915?" He said, "Reformed baptist church of god, reformation of 1915!" I said, "Die, heretic scum", and pushed him off. -- Emo Phillips

I got in a fight one time with a really big guy, and he said, "I'm going to mop the floor with your face." I said, "You'll be sorry." He said, "Oh, yeah? Why?" I said, "Well, you won't be able to get into the corners very well." -- Emo Phillips

I've heard some things from all of them, but never really got into any of their stuff. I had Gomez's "Abandoned Shopping Trolley Hotline" that I won in a radio contest for a while... but ended up selling it.

My taste in Britpop tends towards the wussier side... i.e. The Cure, The Smiths, Coldplay's "Parachutes", and Travis.

That being said, that Doves album is awesome. I keep meaning to go back and pick up "Lost Souls" but haven't.

Abandoned Shopping Trolley is drab, but their first album Bring it On, is highly recommended. Coldplay is good...Doves first album is really dark murky and beautiful...it's the opposite of Last Broadcast which is more upbeat....their great in concert though, saw them in Philadelphia...with Elbow.

I've got Starsailor and listen to it occasionally, but all of that Euro-pop starts to sound too similar and it's definitely "mood" music for me - I have to be in the mood for it, or it's just too boring.
