In light of our inability to include real graphic files in our personal signatures as well as the fact that some people ignore this and use text graphics instead, which waste just as much space and look even stupider, should these apparent acts of defiance be tolerated?

I for one believe that they should be restricted to moderator approval, which would allow only certain relevant images to be displayed as long as the space used was not overwhelming.

For those that may want the option to include these if they wish please explain the good reasons behind your thoughts. Thanks.

There are also some signatures that some would deem offensive for language or content reasons and they would rather not look at them. The point for me is that none of us are allowed avatars in our members info section despite the fact that it is an individual option whether or not they are loaded and seen. However, we are forced to deal with the extra long signatures like HM's without the ability to turn them off if we so desire. There should be some type of limit to what is acceptable and what is not. It has already been decided that pictures in signatures can take longer to load, provide wasted space to scroll through and can look really dumb therefore they are not permitted. The issue basically relates text images to being no different.

BTW, nothing personal HM. I would find your signature to be a waste and uncalled for even if I didn't know you as I do.

My point about turning the avatars off is that if we allowed to have them then there would be guidelines to follow so that others wouldn't be forced to make a decision to turn them off completely because one person didn't follow what was deemed acceptable. We have stated that images in signatures are not acceptable and I shouldn't have to turn all of the signatures on the board off just because HM thinks that he can get away with something.

An option to turn off individual signatures without turning them all off or having to ignore a particular person would do but until them it seems to me that these type of signatures should be stopped.

I agree that signatures like Horns' are obnoxious, and that it would be nice to be able to turn them off on an individual level. Maybe the solution for now is to just use the Ignore function with Horns.

I know that quote and respond seems to be the theme at the moment but I just couldn't help myself.

Ignoring HM is an option but if I must tolerate him on the board then I should at least see what he is posting that way if I bother to jump in a debate focused around him I will have a good idea what is going on in the first place.

Also, if your community had a noise curfew that your neighbors kept breaking should ignoring the problem be an option? If the cops were called and told you to just ignore the noise and go somewhere else to sleep would that solve the dilemma?

I always thought it was funny looking, and I always thought it was meant to grab attention...it never offended me, but I can see where others may be offended. As for long signatures, I don't care as long as they're respectful...I mean you can have a long sig honoring a team that you identify with that has won big (say Dutch with the Tampa Bucs) but at some time you should return it to something more minimal...but again, I think it is at the mods decision. The crude image of a woman is just that, crude...but again, as I said, I didn't really care one way or another, I knew it was just a HM way of blatant attention grabbing.

I can honestly say this is most pathetic thing I've seen out of couriers, SkyDog and the rest of the HM haters.

This poll, first off, had everythign to do with HM. TO say you were annoyed with his sig is an obvious lie, considering he barely had a presence here before the poll was posted.

Seriously, everything goes fine, HM appears back on the board and then we get this poll by couriers.

And then SkyDog uses his powers as moderator to do what it takes to piss off HM, and cause the flames to start to get out of control in the first place.

I think it's obvious that SkyDog has a serious grudge against HM, as does several other posters, and what ever these HM haters want, SkyDog gives it to them. And claiming he was banned because he came back into a dead thread and restarted is just bad rationalizing. The thread had hardly been 2 days undresponded to when he came back. It's not like he restarted a 2 month old thread.

At one point, I did enjoy some of the stabs people gave to HM and thought his responces were funny. But this baiting by couriers and SkyDog's banning of HM when he responds has pushed it to the point where the HM bashers have become more annoying than HM himself.

If you really want HM to stop being in flame wars, why don't you try and stop STARTING them.

Only 36 hours? Maybe you're not aware of this, but FOFC is not the center of everyone's life. There have been countless times where I have not checked the board for 2 or more days at a time. I'd hate to think I'd get banned for a week simply because it took me more than 36 hours to check the board and respond to a flame war started by someone else.
