View Full Version : FOF: One-Player Universe Question

I started a new file using the FOF Player File Creator. I am also using the OPU csv to create the fdt file.
Could someone explain to me why the players created are awful? The best QB is a 17/57. Is it because of age? Are they all young? I believe that's the case, but that begs another question.
How do I create a file where there's a variety of players, in terms of age and ability? I'm pretty much a FOF newb (I have FOF2k4, but couldn't get into it), and I'm not positive on how to achieve this.
Please let me know. I'd like to create a completely fictional league once the patch comes out, and would like to learn how to go about it.
Thanks,
John

bumpity bump bump (I know it's only been a few hours, but I don't get much online time. I'm hoping someone in the next half-hour has an answer. Otherwise, I may have to find out on Sunday).

I'm guessing here, but I believe the game generates players to fill requirements if numbers are short. So in the OPU the players generated are fillers only... In a normal universe these guys would be just that, but in a OPU there are no stars, so the fillers become starters, and you see what you are seeing.
I ould be wrong though.

Maybe I'm confused about what you're trying to do, buy you can have a fully fictional league. Just make sure you select preference draft or complete draft, then begin game with a random new player file.

Would I have to start in 2006 then? I am assuming as such.

I don't think I can shed light on the "why" -- but when the game creates "filler" players, it's not creating quality, just sufficient quantity. I think the OPU concept is a way of tricking the game into re-populating the game universe with this sort of bum -- but never was intended to be a way to a full, robust universe of good quality players.

Yes, although yabanci has created a fictional 1970 file you could download if this helps what you are trying to do.

Really the best thing to do is to quick sim through a bunch of seasons. (say 15 or 20) I always do that before starting a career.
I've never tried the single player universe so I can't speak for that.

Okay, now here's a question.
Is there a way to quick-sim without controlling any teams? I see that I do that, and as a result, I end up ruining a franchise in the process.
mrsimperless has my goal here. I want to set up a fictional historical league before I start playing in it. And, if there's a way to do that in God mode...well, I'd be all over it.
As it stands, I have yet to figure out how.

That's the killer - you have to either be the Cards and move franchises when you want to take over, or start as the franchise you want to be, and make the ticket price/franchise player/summer league decisions while you build the league history

I love that the "be the Cards" option is a viable one. It's one I could completely consider. ;)
As far as not having that option, fine. I'll just go about it another way then.
Thank you guys for your help!
