Is this even legal? (It might be if they didn't take preorders, but if they did, wow..

EB required people to order a certain ammount of games, 3 I believe, in 2001 when the XBox came out.
8 PS3 games is just an unrealistic ammount tho. I couldn't even tell you 2 PS3 games I want, and I need a PS3 to replace my stolen video game systems. :(

Other than for people who put down pre-order deposits on the assumption that there would be no bundle, I have no problem with bundles.
New console releases are weird... the supply is so low and demand is so high which should drive up the price, but I guess the retail stores are locked into the MSRP. This is just their way of raising the price without actually doing so.

Yep. The days of needing to get a console at launch are gone.

Most of the Japanese PS3 buyers last week were for resale - there are some links on the Dubiousquality blog about it.

Foz-
Wouldn't you prefer that the gaming systems actually went to people who want to buy them and play games on them, as opposed to the pre-order ebay sale lowlifes?
I should probably read the whole article, but I don't necessarily have a problem with a store requiring you to buy X amount of semi-profitable add ons if they have to sell you one system probably at a loss.

I believe compUSA was requiring you to buy a sony HDTV if you wanted first crack at a ps3 there.

how is this any different from ebayers making huge profits off of people willing to spend upwards of $1,000 for next gen systems? gamestores just trying to get a piece of the pie.

I will never understand the frenzy to buy the system the day it is released.
You can just wait 2 months & pay regular retail price & not have to stand in line for 3 days outside the store & there will be plenty of reviews out on the games.

I just got off work an hour ago.
There were 30 people standing around outside the store waiting for management to leave so they could 'officially' start camping out for a system they can't even buy until 8 am Friday.
This is madness.

One of my employees called in sick today, but he is actually second in line at some store waiting for freaking ever to purchase a PS3 to sell on ebay.

Well honestly is there anything stopping these stores from selling the consoles for more then the MSRP?

Well, they could find that it takes Sony a while to restock them.
