Let me know if anyone else has seen this.

My coach is rated VG in Def Playcalling.

NY 13 Mia 6 with 2:40 to go in the game. NY has the ball on the Miami 32 with a 3rd and 12. They get 9 yards and now have a 4th and 3 at the Miami 23. Miami has two timeouts BTW. There is an illegal motion penalty on NY which Miami declines. So they kick the 40 yard FG and go on to win 16-6.
Now shouldn't Miami have accepted the penalty which would have put the ball at the 37 and a 3rd and 17. Time wasn't a factor as it was over two minutes and two timeouts. The way the AI handled it there was never a chance after declining the penalty and then the FG.

What was the result of the play?

If the penalty was called before the ball was snapped, then the defense can not decline the penalty.

Speaking of which, has anyone confirmed that the end-game defensive tactics have been fixed? I think a number of us reported seeing the defense play "expect pass" almost exclusively at the end of games where the opponent would be in a position to simply run out the clock (basically the entire 4th quarter through the 2 minute warning).

The result of the play was a nine yard run. The defense did decline the penalty.

I don't think the penalty could be called before the ball was snapped. Normally illegal motion results from two guys moving and not getting set by the time of the snap, or a guy moving forward at the time of the snap.

I would say declinging the penalty is defensiveable. Considering that the result of the play was a 4th down. However, I agree that the best thing to do would be to accept and push them back into very long FG range.

Has anyone done a study to see about the Penalty Accept/Decline AI? It would interesting to see if the AI just automatically declines penalties if the result of the play was a 4th down.

My problem is giving them a 40 yard FG instead of pushing them back to repeat 3rd down. Which might have made a difference. I'm almost certain in the NFL every team would have accepted the penalty in that situation. Like I said time wasn't a factor for one play.

This is a problem I reported pre-patch. Are you using 6.0a now, DolphinFan, or is this result from a pre-patch game?
