Amazon.com next thursday at 11pm pacific. I have to work, so sadly I'll miss out. But you can get your XBox for cheap that way, even if you have to add the x-Box HDD for 100 and X_Box Component cables for 30 bucks it is still a great deal on the Xbox 360.
Figure out how to use the 1-click if you want to get in on this great x-box 360 deal.

nevermind about the one click for the ExBox 360 purchase, it's sort of like some sort of amazon lottery. Details below.

No problem. Don't feel bad, I read the page twice & still wasn't entirely sure.
Heck, I've read it two more times & still don't see where they clarify the date.

I'll log in next thursday and try, I'm doubting I'll get one but it's worth a shot at that price.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but has the 'voting' concluded for this, thusly making the Xbox 360 deal effective for next Thursday? I know the odds are heavily in favor for the Xbox 360, much more so over that barbie doll, but I thought I'd just ask.

Real quick note:
The order time is 11:00 am PACIFIC time.
Someone needs to make an ordering script.

The sale goes off today at 11 AM PST. Now if I can just figure out how to sync my clock with Amazon time.
Tonight I think I will be voting for the $25 Axion Portable DVD Player (http://www.amazon.com/gp/amabot/?pf_rd_url=%2Fexec%2Fobidos%2FASIN%2FB00073JU2E%2Fref%3Damb_link_3962932_7%2F102-9592934-1893745&pf_rd_p=260380801&pf_rd_s=center-13&pf_rd_t=2001&pf_rd_i=cv/homepage&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1TXEKZ8EWPKGQAMM9E0T).

just tried adding the xbox (without the special price) to my cart and get through and got this message: *** We're sorry. This item can't be shipped to your selected destination. You may either change the shipping address or delete the item from your order by changing its quantity to 0 and clicking the update button below. ( See geographical restrictions. (https://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/stores/browse/-/468634/pop-up/ref=ord_cisa_isr/002-1328346-8631255)) ***
so, no, it's not available for shipping to Canada...

Does anyone think that a lottery system would work better?
Problem is, how would you know that it's fair? Not that I wasn't sitting there thinking some 17 year old kid has some program to kick people off the amazon.com servers...

There were scripts running - the FW community is one very common offender on that regard.

9 windows open, I managed to get one of them to at least load the sold out page by 6 minutes after.

American Express has had this problem the past couple of years as well. A couple of weeks before Christmas they start offering one item per day that is well below retail value. Last year they had a Land Rover for $5000 as one of the items. Their servers got hammered as well.

Yep, I had the same experience here. one page loaded 3-4 minutes passed the time, and it was sold out.
The site was blazing fast until just past the 10-til mark, and then "nuthin" (Cornelius from Rudolph licks his ice pick)

Gotta love people who feel somehow wronged because they didn't get one of the 1,000 XBox 360s. Here's a thread over at Amazon from people who didn't seem to think that upwards of 2 million people hitting one page at the same time wouldn't cause problems.

Reading all of these people bitching on the Amazon boards about how unfair it was that they didn't get one of the systems b/c they had a super duper T3 line w/ state-of-the-art routers or God knows whatever else is pretty funny. The best ones are the people who think Amazon deliberately scammed them.
Hello McFly! Anybody home!
Amazon is taking a $200 hit on each of these systems. Do the math, Amazon lost $200,000 in potential sales. If this is Amazon's idea of a scam, it may be one of the dumbest things ever in Creation.
The fact that I managed to score one of these bad boys makes it even funnier ;-)
(For the record, I do not live in Seattle or the Pacific Northwest like some of the people may think who feel that only people near Amazon HQ would be able to get one. All in all, a very happy turkey day!)

Yep. One of my co-workers was on the freeway passing our store around 1:00 PM and there was already a line with about 100-125 people in it. Crazy.
