Picked this up for the 360. It's a fun, fun game but the loading screens are outrageous. The review on IGN said that there's a loading screen for a loading screen...it's true. You have to wait for a loading screen to access your desk area, another one to access your computer on your desk, etc. There's a loading screen after the match is over to do the celebration of winning the match...even though it's the same models, etc. Pretty annoying.
Regardless, I like it a lot and the season mode is very fun and engaging. If anyone else out there has it, I'm having trouble picking up objects. I also can't irish whip someone very well. I'm hitting RB and A and I whip them around and back to me instead of into the ropes (or into the casket in the Buried Alive match). Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

I haven't played a SvR game in ages, and had thought about picking this up... but the load times were something I didn't want to have to deal with. :(
I understand they still have Kurt Angle in this iteration? It looks pretty impressive, though I guess there's still a few folks out there with the "No Mercy" mentality when it comes to WWE releases on consoles.

It's funny, but Kurt Angle is still in the game. There are a few other things that are old as well like Booker T isn't doing his King thing...although he has a crown on in the loading screens!
The Smackdown series has brought some nice features through the years along with plenty of annoying pieces. Wrestling games still haven't progressed from the N64 - AKI days.

The problem I have with the smackdown series is they make a solid game, then follow it with a dud. That's essentially what they've done here again, while it's not a crappy game - unless SVR06 was a real eyesore to you, there's nothing that is must have here.
It's a beautiful game, no doubt but the new control system feels limited and gimmicky, the new features to the GM mode are made obsolete to anyone wanting to play a 2 player game by a bug that sim's the other shows match even though you've literally just watched or played the current shows match (example : I could watch smackdown's main event and raw's main event is simmed and the result you just saw on smackdown is never recorded and never happened).
The roster is a tad more dated than I expected, the created player is still pretty solid but it already was in the previous version - custom soundtracks for the 360 would have been a big bonus here (c'mon Raw on the xbox had these). The AI and gameplay in general feels like it has taken a step back as well.
Overall I was a bit letdown, but I kind of already figured that would be the case given their every other year pattern.

Ah, but you are mistaken ... Japan is putting out FANTASTIC wrestling games like King of Colosseum and Fire Pro Wrestling Returns.
Fire Pro is without a doubt the best gameplay and editing of any wrestling game ever. The graphics are 2d, but the gameplay MORE than makes up for it.
Fire Pro is an excellent series but as you said, it is in Japan. Importing is such a pain.

You can buy Fire Pro R from several sources for less than you pay for Smackdown Vs Raw 2007.
It's currently 32 bucks, new from most import places.
