I was caught totally off-guard by the update to the FOFC Front Page. I almost thought the end of the world was upon us.

Nice job though, whomever did it (I suspect VPI).

My understanding is that there is a new banner coming. My favorite part is that updating it is an easy as posting in a thread.

Looking good. I hope to see new info related to mod updates and graphic updates and things generally related to FOF on there. Sure we can get it on the forum boards, but this could be a running archive of sorts.

I know that there is the download section, but I'm talking about version updates being mentioned as well...that sort of thing.

I became one when giving an opinion around here became a criminal offense. As a web developer, I guess I just expect better. If this would have been opened up to the community, several cool ideas could have come out of it and it could have been better. Just my two cents. I fully expect to be called a turd again on the front page.

I take it that you weren't forewarned that membership in IHOF means that this clown is going to be bitter and petty toward you now, too. The bottom line is that the front page (once we get the banner and download sections up) is pretty much exactly what I envisioned and desired. Todd volunteered his time to produce it, and anybody without a bizarre agenda of hostility toward members of a fake football league has the good sense to say thank you, and move on.

I don't apologize for a minimalist style...that's what I'm used to doing. I know people may like to be wowed by other things (not sure if you were trying to imply some sort of combination of javascript or flash or graphic intensive design), but the goal is to design for the lowest common denominator of viewers. Since there are people on the board right now who turn that sort of thing off in their browsers, it makes sense to not to depend on it when coming up with something for the front page of a site that is a resource for a text sim like FOF.

As for people commenting on your opinion (and the image thing), I guess that people just wanted to stick up for me in their own way, but it really doesn't bother me either way. I was asked to help and since I try to contribute to the community as much as I can, I'm happy that I was able to get something out there.

fwiw, I thought, as VPI posted, he's a coder, not a designer. He made something functional and easy to follow. So it's not a masterpiece, who cares?

I did not do the CFL site.

For the record, I am also a coder, not a designer. I am also not high on doing flash and javascript for a site like this. But making the table stretch 100% of the page and the banner is streched way too far. I am also not a fan the side menu and everything looking like a giant pill.

If you would like VPI, I can help. I have a .NET script that will fix the banner.
