Player A is on my team. Player B's owner offered Player B and a 4th round pick for Player A and a 5th round pick.
I have a a rookie LT with better potential than player B and a 2nd year RT who I'd be comfortable starting once he's developed. I have the 2nd Best QB in the league, so he needs a blindside protector.
Player B's owner has the best RB in the league and figures to run a lot. Also has a promising 2nd year QB, though.
What do you guys think of this trade?

player b is a better pass blocker. very important for the LT. whats your rookie LT passblock and potential like?

My Rookie:
8/34 Run Block
8/67 Pass Block
45 Blocking Strength
35 Endurance
I'm not comfortable starting him this year because my team is on the short list of favorites(possibly the favorite) to win the championship.

Looks like a good deal for both parties from what you've said...

Do you have another OT mentor? If not, no way I trade him with some young guys still developing on my roster...

I just signed one(19/20 overall) to a 1 yr 2.1 million deal in case I go through with the trade. Obviously he has no value as a backup, so basically I'm giving up a roster spot, my current LT and a 5th rounder for his LT and a 4th rounder.

In this version, impossible to review without seeing stats, no?

It's year one pre season(MP League), no stats.

Aah, yep, then that's all you got to go on. I'd do the deal.

Did the trade, except I gave 2 future 5ths for a current 4th instead of 1 current 5th for a current 4th because I'd already traded by 5th.
Pretty even trade for both sides that improves each team I think. I might have had to give up a bit of value because I didn't have that current pick, but I'll live I guess.

I've now traded away my 5th-7th rounders in 2007 and 2008 and my 5th rounder in 2009. I think I'm nearly out of ammo for small roster improvement trades. :D

Hey Jeff, I read this site as well you know ;) I feel the deal works for us both. We pick up a guy who can play the position until we get a better guy in - at that point he becomes not only a solid backup but can mentor the youngster (while mentoring our rook RT in the mean time). Both guys fit better in their new system, everyones happy I think.
As a 5th year pro I would question how quickly your new guy will progress as a run blocker. I presume mentors are only effective on year 1-3 players in this version? I was slightly worried he was a frozen 38/48 player, although I think he is probably too far away from his potential to be frozen. He is a better bet for your system than the guy you traded, your QB will thank you I'm sure.
