View Full Version : PING: Anyone interested in a new Fictional League

Just realised AFTER I have done all the major work that WAFL is well underway now, and don't want to put hours more effort into setting up the league only for no one to join.

Using my domain (www.thesuperleague.net (http://www.thesuperleague.net)) i'm just getting the basic shape of the site etc. so you may want to check it out, even though there is hardly anything to see atm.

Basically it's a fictional league with teams in all the major-ish cities/areas that doesn't have a team in real life (roughly). Only differance is all teams have level economies.

Been designing my own teamnames and using college/random high quality logos in a bid to stop franchise movement (ie, seeing a team hopping from city to city everytime a new owner comes in). Although I will allow limited movement of teams, I havent fully thought it through yet. The only reason I'm doing this is I used to run a PBeM Soccer League and new owners would come in and change the name of the team to something stupid and ruin the whole "realism" aspect.

So just post in here if your interested, don't sign up to the forums on my site just yet, as I just want to get some feedback first. If enough people are interested I will probably go into a bit more detail and take in some ideas.

And fwiw, here's the team names:

AFC North Boise Titans, Akron Hawks, Toledo Lions , Milwaukee Mercenaries
AFC East Memphis Lynx, Dayton Aztecs, Knoxville Knights, Orlando Lightning
AFC South San Antonio Oilers, Salt Lake City Warlocks, Mobile Vipers, El Paso Miners
AFC West Anaheim Gladiators, Portland Tigers , Los Angeles Broncos, San Jose Swarm
NFC North Syracuse Bulls, Rochester Roar, Albany Revenants, New Brunswick Hammers
NFC East Charleston Sharks, Hartford Hornets, New Haven Cardinals, Wilmington Wolves
NFC South Austin Chargers, Omaha Pirates, Lexington Stallions, Oklahoma City Demons
NFC West Riverside Warriors, Reno Jaguars, Las Vegas Bombers, Tulsa Generals

I'd be interested in the Austin franchise (or wherever). I've played FOF off and on for a few years, but have never played online. I run an OOTP online league (http://www.snowballhidalgo.com), so I may be of some help if you need it.

I'm in! Wouldn't mind Anaheim or Vegas but I'd like to change to something else if possible.

My email is [email protected]

Let me know how you'd like me to proceed. An original fantasy draft I assume?

I'd like to lay claim to the Dayton franchise. Since I live in Englewood, just nw of Dayton, it should be fun. Which is what I want. . .fun. Although I've never seen any Aztecs around the Miami Valley. Can we change the names of the team but keep the cities? I'd prefer something much more localized.

Sign me up for Anaheim or Los Angeles. I'd like to stay in the west coast.

I would play in this. Either Oklahoma City or Memphis.

Ok guys, I've opened the league up. Feel free to sign onto the forums, you'll have to grab your team "officially" on there. Once we have made all the logo/nickname changes etc. we'll kick off with the preferance draft and go from there.

As I said in the 1 thread on the forum, i'm open to all ideas, so if you have any, it's best to post in there.

headtrauma - I may take you up on your offer of help. Once you have signed onto the forum i'll talk to you in a bit more detail.

aquatix - We will have a preferance draft with fictional players.

Any questions feel free to ask in the forum.

You know that starting with level economic playing field will make all the cities populations equal, right?

Any idea how often you will be simming?

I was aware of the level economic playing field. Makes things much better for multiplayer imho.

I'll be simming twice a week, days TBD but im pushing for Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Well I only got the game last night but it is pretty obvious that the fun is to be had in the MP side of things.

If there is a spot left by end of week I might put my hand up for a right proper ass thrashing however let me just learn the basics...ie Menu Layout, Do one draft etc.... :)

If its taken...so be it...must say pretty impressed by the site though :)

Just noted you have an Albany side...not quite the ALbany Western Australia I live in but still inviting none the less :)

We have 16 spots left, but feel free to join up even though you have no experience, this is my first crack at being a commish and although probably all who have signed up know their way around FOF not many have ever been in an MP game.

Btw, I'm from Australia too, Sydney thoguh :)

im interested aswell, im an FOFC vet and i was in a online league last year for alittle while but real life got in the way. I finally just bought 2K7 so it might take me a couple days to get familiar with it again.

I'll take the Orlando Lightning if they haven't been taken already.

also, i've seen alot of the other really good MP leagues have big league stories each week with pictures and stuff. Some players also do a weekly article breaking down different aspects of the league. Like hot players, slumping players, rookie breakouts etc....

I hope we end up doing that sort of thing aswell :)

Feel free to sign up on the Forums, unfortunately Orlando has already been taken. Although Charleston and Mobile are the closest available teams.

We seem to have peaked at 19 people, so don't hang about on here :P
