That's sad. What's worse is that he created much of the X-Men characters and yet received no royalties from the movies at all.

Sad, but receiving no royalties is part of the business. That's why Image was created.

My son is a professional in the business, and said Paty called him Sunday night and left a message about Dave's passing. Reports later stated it was complications to his diabetes.

One of the greats that didn't get a lot of press. Son said that Paty and Dave were great folks and Cockrum had time for newcomers and fans alike, trading stories and tips and tricks.

He was pretty torn up about it. They had just seen him just a while back.

RIP Dave. You will be missed.
