I may be slow and uninformed, but I just read about the January webcam overdose and death of the guy who kept popping pills while all these people watched him on his website. Lots of them were egging him on to take more and more, according to the paper. Eventually, some of the viewers (voyeurs) began to get scared and tried to figure out what they could do, but he ended up dead. :eek:

What would you do? Is there anything you could do, besides tell him to stop, or quit watching? :confused:

Indeed, I read about this...the boy kept popping pills egged on by his little audience...eventually, some grew concerned but were told to keep quiet, one did call 911 but talked their way out of it...others tried to reach by phone, but they did not where the boy resided...his mother found him dead the next morning, but it was like 2 weeks (screensaver locked out) before anyone knew that there had been witnesses...

I read part of the logs from the chat. It's really rough reading. Guess I was curious, but man, what a tragedy. My heart goes out to his family and friends. I wonder how those who egged him on must feel now.....

I read through it, too, and there was some egging. But my impression was that the guy had a full head to do this anyway. No one was really egging him on early on, just watching with interest (which is disgusting enough), and he did most of the drugs he did right there.

I think there were some very sick people in that chat room group, but I think he was by far the sickest.

I read the transcript and I don't think they were really egging him on... in fact several of them were telling him to stop from nearly the beginning. Sounded like he was going to kill himself no matter what, and the people in the chat room happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
