I'm in my first season with 2007d. I've been playing with injuries at 150 and I've been decimated this season. Did Jim make any changes to injury frequency in the last two patches?

Define "decimated". I think the consensus around here is that real-life NFL injury lists are a lot longer than we think they are.

Odd as this sounds I kind of like the challenge of being decimated by injuries. I think my record was 70 people logging playing time in the regular season one year because I lost so many people on the IR.

I had a fair number of injuries on the same setting (150) during the one full season I've played with patch d, but luckily escaped any season-ending injuries. I had at least 2 or 3 SEIs a year the few seasons before that, pre-patch d. Might just be a coincidence, though.

2 or 3 is Season ending injuries is very low in real-life, 0 is almost unherad of. The Patriots already have 10 players on injured reserved, and that's just the first team I looked at. That's more than you'd see at a 200 injury level.

And I'd really rather not have realistic numbers, to be honest. I do want something bordering on real, though, so if I continue to go through seasons with no major injuries, I'll up the setting. To be fair, I did have a few out/doubtful injuries toward the end of the season that I could have fairly easily chosen to IR, but didn't. But no "out 24 weeks" type injuries this year.

Not if you faked injuries for players you were simply hoping to keep off of other teams. In terms of legitimate injuries that occurred to actual players they had hoped to contribute this year, I see 3 names on the Pats list of 13.

Please, people, we need to stop trotting out raw IR numbers as the measure of "real NFL" injuries. I'd say less than 30% of those are cases where an expected starter is out for the year.

I've been playing with a 150 injury setting and have been averaging around 4 or 5 season ending injuries a year. Some of these are serious enough for an immediate IR, and some are to the point where a player might become available late in the playoffs. It is a bit of a pain dealing with so many injuries, but it seems realistic.

The only thing I really haven't noticed much of is injuries to QBs. I still see about 25 QBs a year starting all 16 games. The one notable exception is my QB who decided to become severely depressed before week 17. We were poised to make a run at the Bowl, so I don't know what he had to be depressed about.

Me, too. I assume this is Jim kicking the realism up a notch by instituting the NFL's "treat the QB with kid gloves" policy so no one ever gets hurt. :)

What is the game been balanced for 100 or 200 injury stting? I remember Jim mentioning somewhere that he had the game engine balanced to produce realistic stats at one of these?

Can't find the thread, but he said that 100 was designed for a more fun experience and that 200 was more realistic.

Jims comment.

I recommend using 100 because a higher injury level is frustrating for people who don't run a football team on a full-time basis. I'd prefer to use it myself. But 200 is designed to be more realistic.
