I would love to start a new NFL style league, however I do not posess the "know how" to be a commish or to maintain a web site. Does anyone know if there will be any new leagues forming soon? I think there is a demand, with so few leagues and teams out there.

PS .. While I don't have the time to take on any full time responsibilities - if someone has the time and desire; I can help a commish/web guy get this off the ground. I've designed a couple OOTP sites - and it's all pretty much same/same; I've also commished OOTP and it looks pretty similar and easy to grasp.
I have a couple weeks off for Xmas, so I will have a decent amount of time for "startup" .... but after that - I have a time consuming job & a pregnant wife, so I really can't keep it up full time.

A dozen or so of us have been playing a private FOF 2004 league for the past 18 months. I'm the only one of us on this thread so far - I'm the rep if you like. We all came together though another footy sim we used to play, and decided to play this league amongst ourselves. We are now thinking of opening it to the wider community, as we would like a full league. We are well set up - reliable commish, back up commish, website, active messageboard etc. We are currently discussing a move to FOF 2007, starting from scratch. We would be looking for enthusiastic GMs who will give the league the time it deserves.
Nothing is set in stone as yet, we would welcome discussion on the topic. We are currently leaning towards NFL teams and players. However, we would like to do a full draft consisting of around 22 rounds, followed by the AI picking the rest - an alternative NFL universe if you like. 12 hours per pick, coming down to 3 or 4 in the later rounds. Preferences can be put in if you feel you might miss your slot. We feel this will give the league a more balanced feel and give everyone a fair shot at having a competitive team. You can build the team you want with todays NFL talent.
We would be looking at starting around the turn of the year. 2 sims per week, plus mid week turns. I would stress that we want GMs who have enough time on their hands to do the league justice.
Over to you...

I am interested, but only without any sort of draft. I'd be looking for a real NFL simulation.
I've commished a number of leagues for a number of games and sports. I have a ton of experience and could definitely lend my knowledge to the commish. I, like many others, no longer have the time to run a league full-time because of work, but I'd be willing to help out as best I can.
I'd take any team available except for the Lions. I use the Lions in my solo league and do not want to confuse the two.
I'll take San Diego.

The only problem with this is some people will start off with very bad teams - raiders, lions, etc., which will take several seasons of drafts and free agency to sort out. Now for some that will be a nice challenge, but for others it either won't appeal and they won't play or they may give up quickly.
Starting with a draft, full or preference, will at least give everyone a chance to make their own mistakes. That would be my view.
Looks like we'll be bringing 10 or 11 GMs with us.

Oh, I think you'd be surprised to find that many people are loyal to their NFL teams; and would enjoy running their team with current rosters - even if they are no good.

While this is true, and I'd probably be one of them and I'm a Niners fan, what happens if you can't find a Browns fan, or a Texans fan, or a whoever, who's going to take them if "their" team is taken. In the leaue I currently run there's at least 3 Niners fans, 2 Saints fans.
Out of curiosity who do you support?

lol, I have the very sad honor of bleeding honolulu blue. Go Lions !
(as for the above - "I'd take the Cardinals" post; well - I've always run my solo league with the Lions, and thought a little change would be interesting. The Cards have been my - distant - #2 team since my favorite player (Bubba Baker) left Detroit for St. Louis.)

You're spending too much time worrying about this. Trust me, it's the LEAGUE that makes people sign up not the teams available. If we build a league worthy of joining no one will care what team they are "stuck" with.
From my experience as a commish, teams like Indy are the last teams to be taken because they already have a franchise QB and are well established. It takes longer for a team like this to feel like your own.

Oh, and by the way, if you're having problems finding a CLE GM I will take them. I'll stick with SD for now but I have no issues being any team. I just don't want the Lions because I use them in my solo league.

I a Lions fan but I already have the Lions in EFL , I requested Indy because Manning is my favorite player.
BTW I wouldnt mind giving it a try to commish a league if I could get someone to help out with the web stuff. I ran leagues before with FBPRO - BBPRO . I be a total newbie commish for FOF and would need some tips but with my lack of time I couldnt do any web work.
So anyone willing to co commish a league I would help out with the sim part if they were into making a nice web site and updating it.

I'd be very interested in taking on the Buffalo Bills... this would be my first online league in FOF but I have been in several Madden coach leagues. I will ultimately be looking to run a league in the future as I may have some quality web space available in the near future, however I need to get my feet wet and see how things are done differently than in the Madden coach leagues.

I have had contact with someone in this thread and we are talking about starting one up. Dont expect any thing till after the first as we have to work up a web page and find a place to put it. I also plan to pick the brains of current commishes to see what all is involved.
I have ran FBPRO and OOTP leagues before so I am not totaly clueless :D

Craig, as long as you use real NFL teams, without an allocation draft, you know I am in. Looking forward to another league with you! I could help get things set up as I have 2 weeks off starting in about 6 hours.

I'd like to delare myself out at this point. Marc and I have done some research, it basically appears there are to many leagues out there right now and GMs are spreading themselves too thin. Even some of the new "full" leagues are suffering a lack of participation, as people have taken on teams I guess they don't have time to run.

Plan to use NFL set up with no draft. Just tinkering around the game right now. Dont need much right now but work on a site I suppose.
As I see it we need to...
Find a place for the web site ( will work on this this weekend )
Create site or a temp one with a forum ( DougWyatt from this thread PMed me and is willing to work on this) but if you want to work on it also feel free.
Note the web guy will get FTP access to the site once I find a place for it so you dont have to wait for me to update it.
Than we can start signing up coaches , I start with those that have posted in this thread first.
any suggestions on a league name?? 8 letters would be preferable.
My suggestion is NFLBLITZ

If this is the case then it might be better for enthusiastic GMs to get involved with one of the existing leagues and perhaps build from there.
The league I commish is converting to FOF2007 with a number of openings in mid-Jan. We will have been running for 3 seasons, NFL teams.
If you're interested drop me a line at
