View Full Version : Another noob Player File Question

I've been searching through the forum for a while now, and cant find my specific question...so here goes.
When editing the players.csv file...if I assigned a player say, a 2 Overall Rating, but then proceeded to give the player 9 ratings across the board...what will the game make of this, assuming I'm loading the roster without the X-factor on?
My hunch is that the game will give the player the approx ratings I've put in the individual slots...and disregard the overall in those instances, except where & when I've left a 0 for a particular rating. I also suspect it could have some impact in future contract demands and/or the scouted Overall rating.
I'll experiment with it later on regardless...but just curious if anybody knows this already, would save a little time for me.

Just out of curiosity, why would you want to do this?

Do you mean why would I want to assign ridiculously high individual ratings with a low overall?...I don't, but it helps to understand how & what affects player ratings when importing a custom player file. By my example...I'm asking for the extreme case, so I can plan accordingly.
If you mean why would I go through & actually edit the player file...well, I guess I'm a picky bastard when it comes to RL player ratings. I dont like to gripe about it...since I know I'm more picky than most. So I just want to figure out how...and I'll do the grunt work myself.

Ok, I get it. I think the way it works is, let's say you set Teddy Bruschi as a 6 overall, and set his pass rush to 9. It randomizes the other ratings such so that he comes out as 6.
At least, I think that's how it worked in 04.

Thanks for the help. I hadn't thought of that really.
Would you say, for example, that if an OL'man had a 5 Overall, and 9 for BS, RB, PB...meaning all position specific ratings have a value...that it might reduce them all equally(presumably to 5's) to get the 5 Overall?

No, I think they would stay high, and he would end up rated closer to 9 than 5. But if you had RB and PB set to 9, and overall to 5, then BS would likely be 0, and he would end with an overall of more than 5 (depending on how the various categories are weighted).

In other words - whatever you give a player as a 9 or 8 stays that way. Overall just determines the UNSET categories.

Thanks a lot...I appreciate the explanation.

I had another question, and figured I'd add to my original thread.
Anybody know what, precisely, the rating "Endurance" is used for?
I'm thinking either Game Fatigue, Seasonal (i.e. the grind) Fatigue, Injury Resistance, or possibly a catch-all for each?

From what I've read around here - No. No one knows for sure what this rating does. Some people have some guesses - some even make sense - but no one seems to know for sure.

Thanks for the response...kinda what I gathered from reading a lot of threads.
Well...maybe somebody who has figured it out might just chime in at some point. Until then...I'm going to try to make it a catch-all for the 3 items I listed...as I dont really see any other rating which might associate to it.
