You can scramble eggs in the microwave. Who knew? This is a monumental discovery for me, and will revolutionize my eating habits at home.
Beat 3 eggs in a mug/coffee cup, 30 seconds, beat eggs again, 30 more seconds, beat again, 20 more seconds. Boom. 30 more seconds & the microwave bacon is done.
I'm giddy with excitement.

This is what they do at the fast food joints, etc ;)... It is particularly effective for making like a breakfast sandwhich if you have a conviently shaped tupperware container...
What's this microwave thing???

I survived on microwaved scrambled eggs and microwaved ramen noodles when I was single (and before I learned how to cook). Put them together for an even better taste sensation.

Of course you are on your own and single...
You keep leaving parties early and ditching your friends.

they're not as good as other methods of cooking, but they're acceptable if in a hurry, etc. I dont even find the need to do all the stopping and rebeating. I think 2 eggs beaten in a cup/mug cook just fine in like 65 seconds or so.

In spite of my awe & wonder, I'll agree with you on that point. The finished product (at least last night) was firmer than I prefer but for me that's a reasonable trade off to make when the clean up afterwards consists of sticking a mug in the dishwasher.

Here's another one, and I'm not sure if I should keep this gem to myself, but here goes.
If you take a fork and poke a few holes in a potato, then microwave it for 8 minutes, you get a baked potato!
There truly is help for a culinary challenged individual like me.

Growing up my mom used the microwave a lot of cooking shortcuts like bacon, scrambled eggs, baked potatoes, etc. That's probably why my microwave is pretty much only used as a secondary kitchen timer now. I'm a bit of a food geek, but IMO life is too short to eat microwaved food if you can help it.

I go just the opposite direction I guess. Life's too short to spend time cleaning up the kitchen any more than you can help it.

For whatever its worth, I didn't know the egg trick or the potato trick.
I think this should be a weekly FoFC column.
Microwave Cooking with JiMGa.
You all have helped me with breakfast and lunch. I fully expect someone come out with some dinner microwave recipe for me before say 5:30pm EST.
Thanks!

Here's dinner
Wrap a frozen chicken breast in a small towel (not paper, think clean dish towel sized) that is soaking wet.
Placebundel in microwave for 6 minutes (using a 1200 watter so adjust times accordingly) Now put chicken breast(s) in a bowl and cover in BBQ sauce.
cover bowl and nuke for 30 sconds.
It will taste like BBQ chicken that was cooked much, much longer...and be all tender and shit like it slow cooked in a crock pot

I recommend the Hormel Beef Roast Au Jus fully cooked entree with a side dish of Easy Mac & Cheese. Alas, I haven't found a good microwave bread, so you'll probably have to bite the bullet & deal with Brown-n-Serve rolls for that.

Wasn't there a thread around here about an omelet in a bag or something to microwave?
This is how Einstein Bagels and places like that make their Bacon/Sausage Egg and Cheese. Nuke a bowl of scrambled eggs.

That was actually boiling an omelet in a bag -- as a way of making a bunch of individualized omelets at the same time. I actually tried this out after that thread and was pleasantly surprised with the results. It kicked pretty good ass. Not as good as a real omelet, but better than decent.

Well, not all. At BK we had a pan that fit over the deep fryer, and you would pour in the eggs (scrambled out of a carton). Cook for a bit, cut in four, fold each quarter over twice.
But otherwise yeah - welcome to 1988. Seriously.

You could probably stick the bag in the microwave and achieve similar results

I always hated having to wash that pan. The sucker was a beast...

A lot of people at my work do this, 'cook' eggs in the microwave. I'm not into the baby chickens (I have texture issues with eggs), so it irks me when the eggs spill over and coagulate onto the bottom, spinning part of the microwave and they don't clean it up.

Did you hear about this new channel called ESPN2? I mean, what could they possibly show on that?
