This is going to be a stupid question but I'm looking for a last minute Christmas gift. Is there a CD or CD set out there that is a good compilation of 80s rock/heavy metal? Hair bands, etc. I see several but I don't want to overlook one that might have all of the songs one would expect in one place.

I bought the soundtrack to Sky High a while back. The songs are all covers of 80's tunes. I usually don't care for covers but I ended up really enjoying that cd. The versions of Talking Heads' And She Was and Devo's Through Being Cool made it onto my current favorite mix cd.

Looks like it's out of stock new (some used available apparently) but if you could find this series (http://amazon.com/gp/music/artist/Heavy-Metal-Hits-Of-The-'80s:-Youth-Gone-Wild-(Series)/B000APXTJO/002-9147166-8592868) it looks like it covers a good bit of ground.

FWIW, the Monster Ballads 2 disc set is really good, and I've seen it at Target lately...

Just the other day, I was thinking that it's been a long time since I saw a crotch on a CD cover. Thanks, I'm buying the whole series from half.com when I get home tonight.
